HA JOKES ON YOU THERE ISNT ONE
[leans back in my seat and takes a sip of my drink]
i really like dad-type characters and i know that you're probably psycho-analysing me right now thinking that it's due to my distant relationship with my dad but i swear it's n- where are you going? you're the bartender! you're supposed to listen to my sorrows!
So I stumbled across a thematic bundle with games similar to This War of Mine and it’s got a neat little game called Orwell. The steam page does a really good job describing it, but you’re basically facebook stalking people for the government. And it’s weirdly kind of a horror game in that respect cause it’s kinda subtle about its satire and just uncomfy to play alittle.
But anyways (minor spoilers for chapters 1/2) there’s this freaking adorable old-ish professor guy who I just LOVE. He teaches media studies (like my favorite old prof back at school) and his teachings attract a lot of punk revolutionaries. He acts really paternal to the little anarchists in such a concerned dad sort of way. Like, he stumbles across some Punk band’s blog and invites him to join his debate club because he likes the Punk band’s energy about defying the man.Â
I’m not sure how old he is, I would assume late 50′s or so but he might be in his 40′s. Idunno I just really like calm but revolutionary leaning mentor figures I guess.
But yeah, Orwell is...interesting to play so far. I feel like it’s sorta like Her Story but more linear(maybe?) and text based. Like it has the same sort of investigative feel and dealing with people feel, but the mechanics and tone are pretty entirely different.
submit your favorite and/or most hated dad characters!
submissions will be open until May 23th, polls will start in June. (June is gonna be BUSY. I will post the tags for each contest ahead of time in case you want to mute one of the contests while there's three going.)
