like hes some badass Rockstar dude with a foul mouth and an even worse ego problem but when he is around kids he tones it down and helps them

he plays games with them and let's them drag him around. he let's the girls put makeup on him and helps set up hot wheels ramps for the kids

in heaven he actually volunteers to help with the child souls who died too early and they all call him uncle adam and use him like monkey bars

“Adammmmmmm, can we get the double stuff Oreos?” Adam stared down at his Kim’s foster daughter, who was holding two boxes of them, about to put them into the cart.

“We either get double stuff or we get cookies, not both,” he responded, holding up the packet of cookies they’d already put in.

“Ugh, fine, cookies.” She put them back, before reaching for Adam’s hand again. They made it to the produce section, and Adam was trying to decide between the organic and regular carrots. When he’d told Kim he’d do the grocery shopping he didn’t realise how much was involved. When he lived alone he lived on takeout, but with a kid there was so much more to do.

“Which carrots do you want, Makayla?” He asked, holding up both bags for her approval.

“Do we need carrots? I mean I can see fine,” she retorted, a hand on her hip.

“Ok Sassypants, but you need veggies to grow up big and strong. Or if you don’t want to be a scientist when you’re a grownup you can skip them.” The words were barely out of his mouth when he realised what a stupid thing that was to say.

“Ok Adam, I’ll be a cop instead. So no veggies for me!” She shimmied in place, and Adam barely kept his face straight.

“Yeah, no can do Squirt. If you don’t eat your veggies you won’t be strong enough to grow up. So you’ll be stuck as an eight year old forever!” He bent down and tickled her, her excited squeals making his heart sing until he remembered where they were and stopped. The decisions about food made, they went to the cashier to pay.

They’d almost made it through when the teenage cashier complimented Makayla. “Your hair is gorgeous. Did your Dad do it?” Makayla blushed at her words, shy for a moment.

“Nah, Kim says Adam can’t do anything unless it involves breaking down a door.”

Adam cringed at the look on the cashier’s face, before handing over his credit card and signing the receipt. They went out to his jeep, and he put the bags into the back before buckling Makayla in securely. Once he was in the drivers seat he looked back at her in the mirror. “You win, Sassmaster Supreme. Tell Kim nothing and I’ll buy you McDonalds on the way home from school tomorrow?”
