the whole.... dsmv thing with taash is super weird to me especially bc in my opinion, bellara's adhd was written pretty well. i don't know how the writing team managed that but completely dropped the ball with taash and their autism (also copying shit from the dsmv to write an autistic character feels SUPER ableist i won't lie)
no no no exactly. the most generous thing i can say is that it's good that trick wrote them as autistic intentionally (vs a lot of autistic-coded characters not being written like that on purpose), but just looking at the dsm-v diagnostic criteria and checking it off in taash's dialogue is... well. using very nice words. it doesn't really feel like mindful, respectful representation, does it?
plus trick phrasing it like that makes it sound like such a failed gotcha. "people still try to say taash isn't autistic when i, The Writerâ„¢, used the dsm-v diagnostic criteria to write them" buddy you should have quit while you were ahead, because you just dunked on yourself. (some) autistic fans were already connecting to taash, they could have just said that they intentionally wrote them as autistic, they do not need to play themself like this. unforced error.
