Jana was loud.

This was common sense amongst the team. She was always bickering with someone, yelling throughout every TikTok live, shouting from the sidelines. It was just a fact.

So when they had another movie night, things were assumed to be the same.

Jana showed up with her usual demeanour: loud, bubbling, grinning. Settled on the couch like she owned it.

Yanna walked in with snacks and her usual deadpan expression.

Aubrey and Morgan showed up together, already fighting about what movie’s to watch.

And you just…slipped in. Intentional, but not loud. The room didn’t shift around your presence, but people deliberately talked softer when speaking directly to you.

You sat on the couch, took your place next to Jana. You didn’t attend movie nights very often, content to just hear Jana’s overexcited recaps, but she’d begged you to come to this one, and, well. It was impossible to say no to her.

She opened her arms, let you fall into her. She continued her conversation with Aubrey about vegetables and whether or not they were real, but lowered her volume so it was just loud enough for Aubrey to hear.

Then the movie started. And chaos ensued.

It took a moment for it to clock, because while not the most subtle change, Jana’s sudden silence was momentarily covered up by KK and Ice’s chaotic commentary.

But it’s a commentary that Jana is usually enthusiastically partaking in.

KK threw popcorn. Ice stood up to yell at the TV like she was the referee. Paige and Aubrey were arguing over the physics of the movie.

And Jana was silent. Hands toying with the cuffs of your hoodie, occasionally pressing a kiss to the top of your head.

Halfway through the movie, KK tilted her head like she was trying to listen out for something. Then, with a level of drama that could never be replicated, KK whipped around slowly, eyes shifting away from the screen and landing right on you and Jana.

“I don’t believe it.” KK gasped, eyes wide, hand flying to chest, shoulders pushed back. “Jana El Alfy, legendary crash out, dead silent.”

“So that’s why it feels so quiet.” Ice turns around, eyes wide with realisation, grin slowly creeping onto her face.

Meanwhile, you and Jana were curled into each other. The Egyptian girl, while taller, was tucked into you, clinging to you like a lifeline. You hummed softly, fingers rubbing her arm mindlessly.

Jana made no move to get up, just shrugged softly, pressing a kiss to your shoulder and refocusing her attention to the movie.

“She’s not going crazy. Just…comfy.” You shrugged.

The grin on KK’s face spread, connecting the dots in real time.

“Jana ain’t silent, she got silenced!” KK giggled, jumping up and down in her seat, locs flying around.

“Girl, shut your mouth and watch the movie.” You retort, flipping her off.

“Ouh, girl, I don’t think Jana’s the only one who got silenced.” Ice cackled, pointing at the now grumbling KK and laughing.

“It’s crazy though, Jana is never quiet.” Caroline looked at the Egyptian with curiosity in her eyes, darting back and forth between you two.

“Well, makes sense that the only person who can silence Jana is her girlfriend.” Sarah chimed in, and everyone made various sounds of agreement.

Eventually, everyone’s attention returned to the screen.

You tilted your head up and whispered, “I think I like quiet you.”

Jana looked down, smiling fondly.

”Yeah?” You nodded, eyes shining.

“You’re more relaxed.”

”I’m always more relaxed with you, baby.” She kissed your head, smiling softly
