If you’re like me, you might have “invested” in one of Disney’s customized D-Tech cases for your smartphone. Unlike in the past when Apple has decided to use the same body design for its updated phones, previous D-Tech cases (i.e., those designed for the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus (or 6s and 6s Plus) will not really work with the new iPhone 7 and 7 Plus models. I say “really work”, because it looks like this:

Since the body size of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 7 is the same, the case fits the phone, but the camera on the new phone is positioned differently than it was on the iPhone 6. (I thought the problem might be the size of the lens, but it’s actually the lens’ position that causes the issue.) The interesting thing is the camera doesn’t actually seem to be impacted by the weird case over it. Here are 2 pictures of a white wall, 1 taken horizontally and 1 taken vertically, and you can see the only issue is some minor darkness in the the corner covered by the lens.

That said, having a case cover part of the camera like this looks ridiculous (and I don’t plan on doing it.) (There’s also the issue of the bottom cutout looking funny over the place where the headphone jack used to be. That’s so minor, that I didn’t really even consider it.)

Such a lengthy explanation isn’t necessary for the iPhone 7 Plus models. The dual camera setup on that phone is just too big to fit the existing iPhone 6 Plus case. (I’m sure most people didn’t need me to tell them that.)

So, with that question answer, my next question is: What case, if any, should I get for my new iPhone 7? Let me know on Twitter if you have any suggestions.

This morning, Steven Miller at the Disney Parks Blog released images of some new phone cases coming this Spring to Disney Parks. The D-Tech on Demand options are great because you can choose exactly what image you want and personalize it to your liking. Here’s a look at what you’ll be able to choose from!

Also something brand new, Disney is introducing four designs inspired by ABC Television shows which include the daytime drama “General Hospital,” “black-ish,” “Once Upon a Time,” and “Castle.”

At Walt Disney World Resort, D-Tech on Demand is found at the Marketplace Co-Op in Disney Springs Marketplace, Tomorrowland Light & Power Company in Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom Park, and Star Wars Launch Bay Cargo at Disney’s Hollywood Studios (the latter location only offers Star Wars-inspired designs).

For guests in California, look for D-Tech on Demand at D-Street in Downtown Disney District. You can also create Star Wars-inspired cases at Star Wars Launch Bay in Tomorrowland at Disneyland park.

D-Tech on Demand Debuts at D Street at the Disneyland Resort

How many of you Disney fans out there have already had the opportunity to create your own personalized electronic accessory case from D-Tech on Demand at Marketplace Co-Op in Downtown Disney Marketplace at Walt Disney World Resort? If you have been wishing upon a star for this same innovative technology to debut at the Disneyland Resort, wait no more!

D-Tech on Demand will debut September 18, 2015, at D Street in the Downtown Disney District! The location will introduce more than ten new designs including art inspired by the Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration and selections from WonderGround Gallery artists such as Jasmine Becket-Griffith and Jerrod Maruyama, among others.

Kevin-Michael Lezotte, Merchandiser II, had all the scoop on these new pieces as well as the process and had this to share: “We continue to make updates both in art selection and the process. We’ve watched our fans interact and listened to what they have to say. Now you’ll find an even easier, faster and more user-intuitive process. We’re really excited to finally be able to roll this out to our west coast fans who have been waiting so patiently for its arrival,” said Kevin-Michael. “It’s such a great opportunity for our fans to find rare Disney characters and even usual art. What’s next? You’ll have to wait and see. But several of the art styles that will debut in the near future, are quite episodic and are out of this world.”

D Street at Downtown Disney District at the Disneyland Resort will offer cases for the following phones – iPhone 4/4S, iPhone 5/5S, iPhone 5C, iPhone 6/6+ as well as Samsung Galaxy SIII, Samsung Galaxy 4, Samsung Galaxy 5 and Samsung Galaxy 6.

The whole process – from start to finish – takes about 10–15 minutes, so next time you’re in the neighborhood, swing by, check out the ever-changing selection and perhaps make a case or two. Tip: Some art even will allow room for you to personalize it with your name. I know what I have my eye on.
