Prompt: âWhoa. Thatâs not how it happened.â -- @challengingwordsâ prompt #53
Pairing: Yoon Jeonghan x female reader (ft. Woozi)
Genre: fluff / brotherâs best friend trope
Warnings: light cursing, protective brother, Y/N has a nightmare
Word count: 1321
âYouâre back earlier than expected,â your brother Jihoon announced as you stormed into your shared apartment, the sound of the front door slamming shut behind you rattling both men on the couch.
You drew up short when you saw Jihoonâs best friend Jeonghan next to him, groaning out loud at the cruelty of the universe. On the one evening where you wanted to throw a shit fit and be uncaring of how you did so, of course, Jeonghan was here.
And because he was your longest crush, you swallowed down the excessive nature of your rage. You were still simmering, however, and threw your bag down on the entryway stand. âI got stood up.â
âY/N was on a date?â Jeonghan enquired, looking between you and your sibling for clarification. You wanted him to look disappointed, not interested.
Jihoonâs eyes narrowed. âI thought it was a study group.â
âIt was. It was meant to be. Instead, they went to see a movie that came out today. Without me.â
âIf you know that, then they didnât stand you up, Y/N. They just changed their plans,â your brother reiterated, rolling his eyes at your theatrics. âWhich sucks, but it happens.â
âThey didnât tell me. I waited outside in the freezing cold for an hour before I stumbled over an Instagram story of the two of them at the movies together.â
âHarsh,â Jeonghan commented before patting the empty spot beside him. âCan we help cheer you up? Weâve got popcorn and a movie on.â
You eyed the tempting offer. Normally, you wouldnât hesitate, even with Jihoonâs not so subtle sighing that meant he wanted to spend time without his little sister interrupting it. But you were too dejected and knew your mood would ruin any type of company you attempted to keep.
âItâs okay, Iâll just go brood in my room.â
âTheyâre dicks, so donât dwell on it for too long,â Jihoon commiserated, and you gave him a half-smile before trudging into your bedroom.
At some point, you must have fallen asleep. You startled awake from a nasty nightmare and would have fallen off your bed had a warm hand not reached out to save you. You shrieked, which was instantly muffled by another hand. âItâs me, Y/N. Calm down.â
ââŚJeonghan?â your grogginess evaporated as you stared at the man before checking yourself over to make sure you were decent.
âGod, why would you even inspect yourself like that when itâs just me?â he murmured, removing his hands from you, and rubbing the back of his neck. âYou know youâre safe around me.â
âI wasnât⌠I didnât⌠wait. Why are you in here in the first place? You know Jihoon would kick your butt if he ever found the two of us alone. Heâs always talking about how he canât even get a momentâs peace when weâre together. And thatâs when heâs in the room. I doubt heâsââ
âThe fact that your brother is ridiculously protective of you even around his longest friend is not something I want to get into at two in the morning.â
You arched an eyebrow at him in wild assumption, and Jeonghan hissed reproachfully. âY/N, I donât want to get into that either. I heard a noise coming from in here and came to check on you. Are you alright?â
Aside from being mortified that you so boldly rejected me just now, Iâm peachy, you thought whilst feebly nodding. âWhat was the noise?â
âIt sounded like someone was in here hurting you. You were whimpering and begging for help. I noticed it was a bad dream, so I shook you awake.â
âOh.â You were thankful that Jeonghan hadnât turned on the lights because you felt a flush make its way over your body. âYou couldnât sleep again?â
He smiled wryly. âYou know more about my insomnia than your brother does.â
âWe each have our roles in your life. Iâm your friend too,â you reminded, and his lips grew into a smile.
âYou are.â Sitting down next to you on your bed, Jeonghan stretched out his long legs before nudging you. âWas it a scary dream?â
âYeah.â
âWant to talk about it?â
Glancing at him, you sighed. âNot really. I just feel cold right now.â
Jeonghanâs arm instantly wrapped around your shoulder, and you nestled into his side. âLet me warm you back up.â
âJihoon willââ
âHeâs asleep. And heâll never know,â Jeonghan announced firmly, your body already relaxing against him. Perhaps you were still too exhausted to care about Jihoon finding you wrapped up in Jeonghanâs embrace, closing your eyes and listening to his even breathing.
The morning arrived, and you felt far too hot for being just under your thin blanketing. Opening your eyes, you gasped when you realised you had fallen asleep with Jeonghan. He was still sleeping, his arms around you, holding you to his chest. Biting back a smile, you gazed at him, soaking in this rare opportunity.
âDid you seduce him in here?â a quiet voice asked, and you flinched, Jeonghanâs arms wrapping around you more tightly to settle you, exhaling a small murmur as he continued to rest.
You diverted your attention to Jihoon leaning against the doorjamb with a cup of coffee held in his hand.
âWhoa. Thatâs not how it happened.â
âHe seduced you then?â Jihoon asked, taking a sip of his drink.
âWhat? No! You know he would never.â
Jihoon snorted. âIâve been cockblocking him for years from you.â
âWhat?!â you squeaked out and blinked several times. Questions rallied to the surface of your mind, but you didnât get a chance to ask them when Jeonghan finally stirred awake.
âYou both going to keep talking about me as if Iâm not in the room? I swear. You Lee siblings are the worst for holding conversations without including all parties in the same vicinity.â
âI wasnât wanting to talk to you, merely about you,â Jihoon sardonically replied, shaking his head before walking out of the room.
You and Jeonghan stared after his departure before you turned to look at one another, stunned. âDid he just⌠leave us alone after finding us together?â
âYeah,â you breathed out and then slumped into the bedding. âBecause he trusts you to do the right thing.â
âThe right thing by his books is to not even look at you,â Jeonghan pointed out, his hand reaching to smooth some of your bed hair away from your face. He seemed fascinated to do it, as if he never had the chance to look at you first thing in the morning before. And whilst he had seen you many times over the years, you guessed this was the closest moment heâd had. His lips moved into a lazy, satisfied smile. âHe knows I do that all too often, though.â
âIâm not following you,â you admitted, and Jeonghan exhaled a deep breath.
âHe wasnât lying, Y/N. He has been putting himself between us for years.â
âYeah but, you donâtââ
Leaning in to softly brush his lips against your cheek, Jeonghan watched as a dazed expression swept away your confusion. âI do. I have always liked you.â
âYou have?â
âAnd I know youââ
âOkay, I tried. I really did,â Jihoon suddenly returned through the open door, breathing a little heavily. âIf youâre going to have this heart to heart, I need to not be here. But the idea of it happening whilst youâre still in bed is doing me in, so, get out. Both of you.â
âWhat?!â
Jeonghan laughed heartily, prying himself away from your body, leaving you cold without him as he walked across the room. He patted Jihoon on the shoulder before looking back at you. âYouâre right. This has been a long time coming. Iâll take your sister out for a breakfast date then. Will you be okay with that, Jihoon?â
âIâhey, I didnâtââ
You beamed at Jeonghanâs cheeky expression. âItâs a date.â

pairing:Â jaebum x (reader)
description:Â soft fluff and an ode to jaebum's bucket hats. submission for prompt #9Â of challenging words. @challengingwords
word count: 260+â
âAre you really wearing that?â You ask as Jaebum exits his apartment. You had thought that you had found all of his bucket hats and disposed of them. Somehow you managed to miss the construction cone orange one.
âItâs the only one I could find.â He shrugs, his hands tucked into his baggy gray pants.
âFor good reason.â You huff. His face shrinks as he blinks at you. With a shake of your head, you push him aside and punch the code into his lock. âWe are not going out with you wearing that. Donât you have a cap or beanie? Even a fascinator with peacock feathers would be better.â The lock beeps, but Jaebum grabs your hand before you can open the door.
He pulls it close to his chest, trapping it between his palms. âWeâre only going to the convenience store for snacks. Does my bucket hat really bother you that much?â
Yes? No? Concentrating while Jaebum is staring into your eyes and holding your hand so close to his chest that you can feel his heartbeat is really difficult. âWhat?â
He smiles, releasing a sigh of laughter. âCan we go? Iâm hungry.â
With your thought and speech abilities still malfunctioning, you nod. He lowers your hand to his side but continues to hold it as the two of you head down the hall.
When you reach the street, you can think again. The orange bucket hat is atrocious, but you can handle it for now. However, once he takes it off, it will be finding a new home in the trash.

Summary: Jackson thinks itâs a good idea to take the map from you while youâre hiking and it results in the both of you getting lost in the middle of the forest
Warnings: Fear of thunder
Prompt:Â âI have no idea where to go nextâ a challenge by @challengingwordsâ
Masterlist
[15:04]
âI have no idea where to go next.â You turn around slowly to look at Jackson. Heâs honestly scared to look away from the map in his hands because he knows that youâre going to start scolding him, but eventually, he has to. Jacksonâs brown eyes slowly move from the map to look at you and he can see a vein bulging from your forehead. âPlease, (Y/n), Iâm sorry, I-I know you shouldâve taken the map, please donât kill me!â he squeaks when you grab the map out of his hands and stare at the printed piece of paper. Thereâs no way for you to actually tell where you are because youâre literally in the middle of the forest.Â
âOh my god, why did Jaebeom give you the map,â you groan as you try to remember the way you came, but the forest is unfortunately not as forgiving as you hope it is because every direction you look at looks exactly the same as the last. âHow are we supposed to get out! We left our phones at the camp!âÂ
âI know! Iâm sorry!â Jackson whines. He watches as you repetitively look from the map to your surroundings, trying your best to at least figure out where you are. It was Jacksonâs idea to go camping with you and your best friends, and honestly, the two of you were doing fine in your paired hiking until Jackson thought it was a good idea to take hold of the map and lead the two of you off trail. Which leads you to your current situation; lost in the middle of the forest with barely any kind of knowledge as to where you are or just how far away from the camp you are.Â
âI think I know where to go,â you mutter, looking back down at the map. Thereâs a loud clap of thunder that makes both of your heads whip up to look at the gloomy sky and suddenly, you feel a single drop of water fall onto your face. You turn around slowly to Jackson once again and heâs never felt so scared in his life from just your gaze.Â
âI-I have a mini tent in my bag,â he smiles nervously.Â
âSet it up. Hopefully it doesnât rain that bad,â you sigh, watching as Jackson starts pulling it out of his pack. Â
Itâs raining.
Heavily.Â
You and Jackson are huddled in his freakishly small tent that barely fits two people but is enough to shelter you two from the rain. Itâs cold and you have your windbreaker tightly wrapped around you as you shine your flashlight onto the map.Â
âWe should be able to find base camp if we head North East,â you mutter, circling what your assumed location is and drawing an arrow towards the small red tent you had drawn before you and Jackson had left the camp.Â
âCan I see?â he questions softly. You look up from the map to see Jackson give you his best puppy eyes and you give in with a sigh, angling the map so that heâs able to look at it too. âThat makes sense,â he nods. âIâm sorry weâre stuck in the forest now. Lost⌠and in the rain.âÂ
âItâs okay, Jacks,â you give him a small smile as you pat his head gently. You always thought that Jacksonâs decision to go strawberry blond resulted in one of his best looks, but as much as you want to tell him that, you know youâll end up saying something else instead. âWeâll find our way back. Worse comes to worst, theyâll send Jinyoung out with his strange tracking skills.âÂ
âI think heâd end up hunting us with a spear before actually bringing us back to camp,â Jackson quips, enticing a laugh out of you. His smile grows at the way you throw your head back when you laugh. He has so much he wants to tell you, but he fears that heâll end up ruining the friendship youâve built over the past four years. So, Jackson stays quiet when you laugh, only a small chuckle leaving past his lips at the way you smile.Â
âJinyoung would kill you for making us lost. He loves me too much to do anything to me,â you hum as you fold the map and stick it into the pocket of your windbreaker.Â
âJinyoung only has a soft spot for you because youâre not me,â he huffs as he sits upright. The temperatureâs starting to drop even more the heavier the rainâs getting and itâs not helping that all you have are windbreakers. You canât even start a fire because youâd just end up lighting the tent on fire and Jackson forgot to grab the heat lamp before you guys left the main camp. To be fair, you both thought that the heat lamp would just add weight to your backpacks since it was pretty hot and you were only supposed to be hiking for about two hours.Â
Itâs been four hours.Â
Which makes you wonder whether or not your other friends had already started panicking or already had a feeling that youâd get lost.Â
âDo you think theyâre looking for us?â you question, turning to Jackson.Â
âHmm, Iâm pretty sure Youngjaeâs the only one that would be worried and maybe Markâs girlfriend, but other than thatâŚâ he trails off as he thinks about it before shaking his head, âIâm pretty sure they know that weâd get lost.âÂ
You raise an eyebrow, âwhy?âÂ
âJinyoung specifically told me not to take the map from you,â Jackson confesses with an awkward laugh. Your eyes narrowed into slits, an accusing look directed at him.Â
âThen why did you take the map?â Your arms cross over your chest when he lets out a long, awkward laugh.Â
âI wanted to prove a point.âÂ
âWell, point proven,â you huff. Thereâs a loud clap of thunder that makes you jump and let out a squeal, your heart suddenly pounding in your chest. Jackson instinctively moves closer to hold onto you but he stops himself right before, arms reaching towards you.Â
âYou didnât tell me you were scared of thunder,â he points out, moving slightly closer to you so that at least youâre more aware that heâs there.Â
âItâs not something you just tell someone,â you mutter, looking around the tent. Jacksonâs torn between holding onto you or just staying still. He wants to comfort you, but he also doesnât want to make it awkward between you two. Thereâs another clap of thunder that almost makes you scream and Jackson works on instinct. His arms immediately wrap around you as he pulls you into him, one hand holding onto the back of your head and the other wrapped around your torso. Your hands are folded in between the two of you as you let your face lean into his chest.
You donât even register the fact that youâre securely held against his chest until your heart rate slows down. You freeze when you realise the hold Jackson has you in. You feel like you should move away before it gets weird, but his grip on you makes you feel secure. You look up to see him looking down at you, brown eyes gentle.Â
âAre you okay?â Jackson asks softly. You nod slowly and he smiles. âWe can stay like this if it makes you feel safe.â
âR-Really?â Your eyes widen when he nods. Your hands slowly move to wrap around his waist, feeling more comfortable that way. âThank you.â
âAnything for you,â he hums, chin resting against the top of your head.Â
Sung Yi watched as Mark wolfed down yet another taco before raising his hand to get the auntieâs attention. He looked to her, pausing as he looked at her plate.
âAre you not hungry?â he asked. She looked down at the food, blinking as she noticed the food slipping from her fork.
âAre you starving or something?â she asked. He shook his head. She felt her face fall flat as she rolled her eyes. She scooped up some of the pulled pork and ate it, looking around the restaurant. âJust curious, do you like this little taco shop a lot?â she asked. Mark was starting to dig into his flan as she spoke.
âUmâŚI guess as much as I like any other restaurant in Korea. Why?â She shrugged.
âI donât know. I guess I was wondering how we always end up here when we are hungry.â
âI mean, it is close by and it isnât super expensive either.â She bobbled her head.
âValid point. And the food is good, too.â
âExactly!â She grinned as she watched Mark return to his dessert with gusto.

Pairing: Ravn x reader
Genre: established relationship, fluff (+ a tiny bit of angst I guess)
Words: 650
Warnings: none
You knocked twice on the wooden door of Youngjo's studio, holding a bag with a bottle of water and some snacks in your other hand. You had informed your boyfriend earlier that you'd come by, so when you didn't hear any response from the inside, you just walked in thinking that he probably just went to the bathroom.
Closing the door behind you, the first thing that your eyes landed on was the monitor right opposite the entry, showing a colorful screensaver. It was the only source of light in the room, so you switched on the lights before going further in.
It was your first time there, previously being only as close as waiting for Ravn by the building's entrance - you wouldn't probably even find the right door if it wasn't for the kind lady who showed you the way, so you studied the studio with curiosity.
It was rectangle-shaped and small but kept in neatness; you wondered if it would be the same if you hadn't preannounced your visit.
You took in the walls full of posters and photos as you ambled deeper, slowly making your way towards the desk on the very end. The table wasn't as tidy as the rest of the room, pens and scrunched pieces of paper sprawled around.
And an opened notebook.
The two visible pages were covered in sloppy writing and had many of the words crossed out. Even the margins had almost no clean space.
Before you could think twice about it, you started reading the messy notes. You'd never had an opportunity to partake of Youngjo's process of making music and was always put with the finished product like everyone else, so the temptation was too strong to resist.
From the first line, you were doubtless that it was a love song. You couldn't recognize the lyrics, so you thought it must have been something he was still working on and was yet to be released. The lines consisted mostly of beautifully written, poetical almost, descriptions of a person. Ravn included their every trait - from the top to the bottom, even digging deeper into their character.
But what struck you the most was that all those descriptions, although in your opinion were a bit magnified, matched you.
Before you got to the middle of the right page, your eyes filled with tears, blurring your sigh and making it impossible to read further.
When you covered your mouth with one palm and put the other one on the back of the chair to steady, a quiet squeak came from behind you.Â
"Y/n? What are you doing hereă Ą are you crying?" Youngjo made a bee-line to where you stood, automatically placing a hand on your shoulder as he worriedly scanned your figure.
He followed your gaze to the notebook he hadn't thought of closing before heading out, and his eyes widened as he realized.
"Iă Ą" uncovering your mouth, you swallowed to steady your tone. "I wasn't meant to find this, was I?"
Ravn sighed, yet his expression wasn't angry nor annoyed as you expected. He did seem a little taken down, but his face still had the usual softness to it.
"No, you weren't." He confirmed, moving his hand from your shoulder to place it gently on your cheek. "To be honest, I wanted to record it after I finished the lyrics and give it to you for your birthday."
Your sinus stung, and you felt another wave of tears coming up to your eyes, so you quickly wrapped your arms around him and pressed your face to the crook of his neck.
"I'm sorry..." you breathed. "I shouldn't have read it."
Youngjo returned the hold, patting the back of your head delicately.
"Don't be," he responded, placing a soft kiss on your hairline before lifting your head by your chin to look into your eyes. "Happy early birthday, love."
Prompt: âI wasnât meant to find this, was I?â - by admin Chelle aka @prettywordsyouleft of @challengingwords
Pairing: Park Jinyoung x Reader
Genre: Angst, open ending
Word count: 427
When you left after finishing your shift at work all you wanted to do was fall into bed and sleep. All you had to do was to get home safely then you could be as moody as you wanted to. Though you were exhausted you couldnât stop feeling like you forgot something.
You finally made it to your apartment about 10 minutes later and were beyond confused when you saw that the light in your apartment was on. Thatâs when it hit you. You were supposed to meet your best friend today but you had completely forgotten. You knew heâd be upset. You two havenât hung out in a while and you certainly cancelled plans last minute more often than not. You knew he wouldnât genuinely be upset, but youâd surely have to make it up to him to stop his pouting. You stopped dead in your tracks when you saw what he was holding.
Jinyoung and you had been childhood friends and somewhere along high school you fell for him. You couldnât name the exact moment if someone were to ask you. Was it when you injured your leg during p.e. and he was at your side immediately, insisting that no one but him brought you to the nurse? Was it when your teacher tried to embarrass you in front of the class and he called them out for it? Or maybe when you and him went to the theme park and he won you that stuffed animal you so badly wanted? You had hopes that he liked you and everyone you knew told you that you two would end up together.
That changed when he got a girlfriend. You had been heartbroken and even more so when he distanced himself not paying attention to you anymore. That was about a year ago and you barely contacted each other anymore until recently when he started insisting that you two NEEDED to meet. You had written a letter to finally get over him, including every single thing you ever felt for him. As you wrote the last words of your letter your heart felt heavy, this was letting go, saying goodbye. You had honestly forgotten about that stupid letter it wasnât like anyone was going to see it anyways.
Apparently, life had other plans as he held the letter he was never supposed to find.
âI wasnât meant to find this, was I?â
âIt honestly doesnât matter if I was supposed to find it or not. I do have a question though..â

Her heart raced sitting beside him as he glanced down to see her reaction to his kiss scene on the screen. Even though her face was burning from embarrassment, and she was a little jealous, she knew it was just work. Calming herself down, she glanced up to see Yanjun staring at, looking a bit offended. She smiled, knowing exactly what he was thinking.
Turning her focus back to the screen to play with him a little, Yanjun let out a sigh and closed the laptop.
âEy, what are you doing?â she questioned, looking up to him, âIt was such a cute scene!â
Reaching over to open the laptop, she was interrupted when Yanjun grabbed her arms, making her face him. She stared innocently into his eyes.
âIâm kissing another girl, arenât you jealous even a little bit?â
âItâs just acting.â she replied, trying to hold back her laughter.
Yanjun was speechless from her reaction.
âThis wonât do, my girlfriend doesnât even care that Iâm kissing someone else.â
He let go of her hands, lightly shoving them away, sulking. His little pout was so adorable, she couldnât hold back anymore. A smile appeared on her face as she gently hit him in the chest.
âEy, who said I wasnât jealous, Iâm your girlfriend after all,â she confessed, âIf you dare do it in real life, I willâŚâ
Before she could finish, Yanjun interrupted, giving her a quick peck on the lips.
âKill youâŚwhat do you think youâre doing?â her eyes staring firmly into his.
âClaiming you as mine, and I belong to you only.â
She blinked a few times in disbelief and scoffed.
âLin Yanjun, I think you are getting too into character, how can you say something so cheesy?â
He grinned as she shivered from the cringe. But she secretly loved it and he knew. In the next few seconds, he moved so close the tips of their noses touched. She tried to keep her cool, but the heat radiating from her cheeks werenât helping.
âItâs only true when I say it to you.â
His words made her heart race.
âI know.â Her adorable voice pulling at his heart.
About to turn away, he grabbed her arms, holding her in place.
                âWould you just sit still?â
With that said, Yanjun pressed his lips onto hers. Smiling, she kissed him back. She knew that he loves her, he wouldnât dare kiss another person if not for work. She loves him and wouldnât dare to kill him even if he did.
