I don’t know that I have an especially strong desire toward a specific city?  But I think Los Angeles seems pretty nice from the time I’ve spent there

oh wowwww i didn’t really pick that up specifically from the trailer and the Dating Bullshit was too popular in the last couple games for them to eschew it completely so i expected it on some level but I guess i shouldn’t be surprised if they do I was gonna joke that with the setting there’s no way they could do the Pokemon Breeding nonsense but I’m sure they’ll figure out a way to integrate that too sigh

Sonic Spinball: This has long been one of my personal favorites in the franchise; its origins (made in a rush by an American Team that had never developed a full Sonic game before to fill in the schedule gap in SEGA’s release calendar created by the delay of “Sonic the Hedgehog 3″) make it sound like it’d be a sure-fire disaster but it’s honestly one of the most unique, engaging, challenging games of its era.  The choice to expand the Pinball sections found in the mainline “Sonic” games into a full game of its own is inspired and works shockingly well; you honestly wish there were a whole lot more Pinball-based Platformers out there!  Plus its Western-made origins mean it plays around with a lot of the American-made canon (the Freedom Fighters from the SatAM cartoon/Archie comics make a cameo in its Bonus Stages, American-made Badnik Cluck shows up as a recurring enemy, and the aesthetic as a whole draws pretty visibly from the American cartoon shows) and thus gets to have a distinct look and feel when compared to other games in the series.

Sonic Chronicles: Dark Brotherhood: So OK, there are things about this game that don’t exactly work; in particular its most self-consciously Bioware elements (the dialogue trees in particular) wind up feeling weirdly inconsequential to the overall experience especially given the fairly obvious constraints SEGA put on what it could do with the characters.  But its plot does feel ultimately compelling overall, and its “Elite Beat Agents”-inspired combat system does a remarkably good job of translating the “Sonic” series’ signature sense of speed into the slow-paced world of a turn-based RPG.  It makes even minor battles feel fun and engaging, and the various cute references to the whole franchise it fits into its various facets (Chili Dogs are a healing item and you’ll encounter a cool redesigned take on the SWATBots as an enemy) are delightful.  It’s a shame the follow-up teased at the end will never come to pass (especially since the game found itself the centerpiece of a certain Lawsuit from He Who Will Not Be Named lD; ) because I really do think that the game’s problems only reflect the room for improvement such sequels generally exist to capitalize on.
