A ray, some eels, fish in general, and some sweet cephalopods!

I’m not sure what type of ray that is unfortunately, it’s very hard to tell from the picture and they had a variety of sharks, skates, and rays in the tank it was in, but look at that swoosh! 

Then there are the eels! They were oddly active, or at least out and about. The first big guy I think is a moray (possibly a giant moray eel) and I think possibly the second one too, but I’m not very sure since it was hard to tell its color (it was very shiny in the picture, I had to add a filter just so it didn’t look like a white blob). 

Then there’s just a nice aesthetic shot of one of their fish tanks! One of the great things about aquariums and I guess the ocean in general is the nice color schemes 10/10.

Next is the Chambered Nautilus, a cool little fellow and the only cephalopod to still have a shell! While others like the squid and octopus have evolved passed having a shell, this guy is still chillin (they are so cute, they swim shell first so there are some videos around of them bumping into stuff).

(cont.) When I was finally getting diagnosed as autistic, they admitted that they didn't really know much about it. Another doctor said they hadn't learned much about it at all. Another actually asked me for advice with another patient. The answer isn't get better psychiatrists, when you're poor you get what Medicaid covers, so shitty docs have a monopoly.I know you're a psych major, and I'm not trying to be rude, but I really hate seeing complacency with people saying that psychiatrists are some sort of wizards. Because they're really not, most want you in and out as fast as possible. I'm not saying you should go wild with a DSM, but it's good to try and understand yourself a bit more, and then talk to a doctor about it.

I hate to disappoint, but I am going to say that this time I do have to agree with fuc-kin ‘s one comment, though not how they phrased it with what seemed to be, how would one say, the intent to offend.

(Then again they phrase like...a good portion of their comments like that. So it should just kind of be figured that if I agree with something they say, it’s the basic idea I’m agreeing with, not the ‘trying to piss people off’ bit.)

I’ve had people come up to me and say that psychology isn’t a science, that it’s useless, the it doesn’t matter. So hearing that some people online share what generally proves to be one of those three ideas, twisted through their own words and rose-tinted glasses to appear like it’s not, is no surprise. 

It’s just more people that don’t take psychology seriously.

I’ve never made comments on psychiatrists, being fair. Psychiatrists =/= Psychologists. Trust me, I would know; my family, especially my immediate family, has a hell of a lot of issues with psychiatrists. Makes it kind of difficult dating someone who plans to be one, honestly. 

But I know as well as anyone psychologists/psychiatrists aren’t wizards. No, there are plenty of shitty ones, just like how most careers have plenty of terrible workers, especially at government jobs for ‘poor people’. I’m not trying to be “complacent,” I’m trying to be honest. Trying to understand yourself a bit more and then talk to a doctor about it, like you mentioned, isn’t self-diagnosis. I’m completely fine with people doing that! Hell, that’s what I’d prefer people do, because I have met some really, really just plain ignorant people in my psychology classes. My mom once even met a girl in her classes while she was working on her Master’s that didn’t know Alaska was a state. 

I’m sorry you had such a shitty experience with psychiatrists, but this doesn’t change my stance at all on self-diagnosis at all. I can’t, and won’t, support it.
