Hi I’m not from the US ask set
4. favourite dish specific for your country
Omg okay for this one I have to do all three of “my countries.” For Russia, it’s sirniki:
They’re an absolutely delicious cottage cheese-based pancake type thing, and you have them with sour cream and jam. It’s heavenly.
For England, I have to go for the good old traditional Full English Breakfast. I have never been anywhere else that replicates it to perfection.
And for New Zealand, it’s the national dish - a meat pie. I always run to Fergbaker in Queenstown for their mince pies, and my other go-to is the butter chicken pie. Delicious.
8. do you get confused with other nationalities? if so, which ones and by whom?
So this is actually hilarious, because I speak with a (what I think) is a very standard English RP accent. When I’m in New Zealand, nobody has ever mistaken me for being from anywhere else. It’s always “oh, you’re English!”
When I’m back in the UK though....holy shit. I’ve been asked if I’m Danish, Swedish, German, Welsh, and god knows what else...nobody can ever seem to work out where I’m from. It’s so bizzare.
Then again, I myself can’t work out where I’m from. So I guess I don’t blame them?
