Cursed: Part 4
No one ever talks about how staying awake all night can feel like an entire lifetime. Everyone is asleep, all aside from the nocturnal creatures are still, and at the epicenter of a rather large estate it can seem a lot farther off. Catisa had sat for hours practicing a simple spell the Director had instructed her on. A small glass of water sat on the table before her that she held her hand over and concentrated. At first when she had started this method she had only managed to excite the molecules of the water and make it hot, but after many many tries she was finally able to make it completely still. It wasn’t freezing it or anything yet, but the real progress was keeping it room temperature.
It was almost morning again and the sun had just started to creep over the edge of the mountains when she felt her eyes grow far heavier than ever before, almost as though sleep had its icy clutches on her and were dragging her down into its depths. For the first time in what felt like ages she felt calm as she began to drift off, unafraid of the nightmares that plagued her. Just then a knock came at her door. Who could it be at this hour?
