the tldr: the anonymous, now deactivated blog, tells their story of being sexually groomed at age 13 by a blog called tvshows-addict, who was 34 at the time. im not familiar with that blogger in particular, but it looks like they havent posted since 2023. the anonymous OP also named multiple bloggers who knew they were being abused/groomed and did nothing about it, or actively sided with their abuser: cuethetommo, littlechilllarrie, nottooldforthisship, and... twopoppies. im very aware of who twopoppies is, and seeing her url listed in that post made me jump.
from a cursory glance at the blogs named, most of them have been inactive for several years, but cuethetommo and nottooldforthisship have been active in the past few months. and, of course, twopoppies is active nearly every day on here and is highly respected by every larrie i know.
thank you anon for bringing this to my attention. i know a lot of fans on tumblr really look up to twopoppies/gina in particular, a lot of people go to her for her opinions on just about everything happening within this fandom, and i can only assume many fans don't know about her involvement in that anonymous victim's grooming because it's been so many years. this is certainly the first im hearing of this.

Red poppies have been used a symbol to commemorate military deaths since the early 1920s. In Britain, they are worn in the run up to rememberance day - which 11 November, the anniversary of the end of World War I (marked on the second Sunday in November). You will have seen them at every bit of publicity 1D members have done in Britain from late October till the 11th of November. Here we see 1D members dressed as vampires and respecting the dead:
Giant Poppy Watch gives a sense of how absurd poppies can get. Last year at the local Sainsburies they painted poppies on the road markings that indicated that certain parks were for parents and children.Â
There are lots of problems with commemorating military deaths in the UK (as there is anywhere). Thereâs a lot of nationalism in the way that poppies get used. People who want to start more wars use commemorating military deaths as a way of building support for that approach. The British Army is an army of empire - and the way people talk about that tries to erase that fact. The poppies themselves are made by prison labour.Â
So there are lots of reasons that people might not wear a poppy (I would never wear a poppy myself). Some people wear white poppies - which was a symbol developed by pacificists in response to the red poppy. It symbolises an opposition to all wars and rememberance of all who died in wars, not just British military.Â
In Ireland, the meaning of the poppy is tied up with the the history of British colonisation. The Irish war of independence almost immediately followed the end of the First World War - and it was the British army that was the colonial force trying (and committing atrocities over and above the atrocity of using force to keep people and land as part of your empire). In Northern Ireland, the colonial violence of the British army is even more recent - the British army occupied Northern Ireland from 1969 and didnât withdraw until 2007. In that time they opened fire on protestors, shot children, imposed curfews of civilian populations, interned and tortured people.
There is quite a live debate about poppies in the Republic of Ireland, but they are not widely used a symbol of rememberance and the way war is remembered in the Republic is very different from how it is remember in Britain. Obviously we canât know exactly why Niall didnât wear a poppy. But I think every reason he might not wear a poppy is a good reason. I think thereâs every reason to think that his Irishness is part of his decision - and Iâm really glad he feels able to take that step.
