i'm not sure where you got that info because it's most likely misinformation 🥹 all of the writers are openly homestuck fans with the exception of whoever anonymously wrote sollux's route and feferi's writer (aysha's father iirc, i'm not sure if he read homestuck or not. maybe that's who the rumor is referring to)
also even if some of the writers didn't read homestuck i don't see why that's a big deal? obviously it would be better if the writers read the source material but afaik in the game industry when you hire writers you don't expect them to have consumed the source material (idk if this is true i could be wrong!!)
either way the rumor just feels off to me

I was inspired by how moths antennas look!! (With the the long bumps some of them have!!) Like as grubs it's more reminiscent to how some moth antennas look and when pupate into trolls their horns become much more hardened and armor like. The bumps that trolls have are basically those but most of them fell off, the left overs usually harden as time goes on and become more like armored as well but with an outer layers like a hardened wax. (Kind of similar to a cuticle in concept)
The most trolls have are four and least is none (but highly unlikely)
