Chapter 24 - The Three B's
The three B's are bus, bed, and bath. The idea is incubation, where you distract yourself by doing something else and don't focus on the task at hand. The goal being that inspiration will occur in your subconscious. This is a concept that I have heard before, and many people employ in frustration. I decided to try to this out on a homework this week, where I had to design a character. I was having a bit of a mental block about how the character should look. I read the requirements and focused intently on the situation, then ate dinner, did the dishes, and took a shower. I got in bed and was watching a movie when I came up with a silhouette. I sketched it out and went to bed.
It proved a successful exercise, and the idea of taking a break and letting an idea stew is something that I have done before. It's just a bit tricky under pressure because its hard to consciously not think of something.
This exercise wasn't done in any specific environment, but around my apartment as noted above.
Chapter 9 - Scamper
What are ways to handel ideas other than sketching?
S: I can subsitute sketching for writing, or 3d modeling.
C: I can combine sketching with compositing from magazines and photographs
A: I can adapt sketching to a whiteboard instead of a sketchbook. White boards are more adaptive and flexible
M: I can magnify the sketching process by breaking the idea into segments and focusing them on the individual sections
P: I can put sketching to use in other ways other than idea manipulation. I could sketch for representational exercises to clear my head
E: I can eliminate the ability to erase by sketching in ink. This will force me to make mistakes and see new possibilities.
R: I can rearrange the sketching process by starting with an existing idea, break it down, and sketch out the bits into a new idea.
This exercise was actually interesting. These were some pretty good questions, that although they might not apply directly to the problem, in trying to find how they apply to the situation they force you to think of the problem in new ways.
I decided to do this exercise laying on the floor. I kind of liked being on the floor because of the room it provided, but it got rather uncomfortable to type. I doubt I could work there for a long enough period of time to work well.

Exiled Crayon Poem
Try to imagine, try to think
A single crayon named Tickle Me Pink...
Try to look, try to see
It's color reminds me of gummy Vitamin C...
Try to smell, try to breathe deep in
It is like candles, burnin' and meltin'...
Try to touch, try to feel
It is smooth under its wrapping, just need to peel...
It is an exile crayon away from its box
It's impossible to go back, a crayon never walks...

20 Observations - Poem
20 Observations of my sword rack
There are three swords, a katana, wakizashi, & tanto
They are black
The scabbard is wrapped in fabric
The fabric is embossed with silver thread
The thread pictures a dragon, flower, and swirls
There are gold endcaps on the scabbard.
The endcaps have pressed dragons on them
The swords all have gold hand-guards
The katana is longer than the wakizashi, which is longer than the tanto
The swords have a full tang, which means the blade extends deep into the handel
There is a wrap on the scabbard which can be tied to a kimono
The blade is not sharpened, but the swords are tipped and can break skin
The swords all have a gentle curve
The blade is polished stainless steel
There are rounded triangular temper lines along the blade
There is a strong smell of cedar when the sword is drawn
The swords are held on a black wooden rack
The swords are in size order with the katana on top and tanto on the bottom
The rack is freestanding
There is a stamp on the blade clamp stating made in China
A haiku about the sword
Blade of silver light
Graceful with the blood of men
Honor upon thee
Makeup Remover Bottle

Three small holes at the bottom of the bottle, all in a straight line across 9. PET recycle symbol on bottom 10. 4 Fl. Oz./118 mL 11. Bubbles in the liquid 12. English, French and Spanish translations of instructions/information 17. Cap has extremely subtle ruffles in the plastic, presumably from manufacturing 18. When shaken, the purplish liquid inside forms bubbles that look like tiny fish eggs at the surface. Inside the liquid, though, are tinier bubbles that look like carbon dioxide soda bubbles. Or even particles. 19. The company that made it was Almay 20. Half of the bottle's label is white. Half is clear. 21. The writing on the bottle is all in black letters. It's a typical tale of a boy and a girl. Mary cute as a button and sweet as a pearl. George figured, what the hell, he'd give her a whirl, Just to see how these new events would unfurl. But Mary's mother was a bit of a drag, (Old and wretched and a horrible hag). She was afraid her daughter'd be tempted to shag dear George, and the thought made her gag. Mary and George wanted to go on a date, To the cinema down the street at half past eight. The thought made Mary's mum a little irate, So she stopped the couple at the house's gate. "Stop! No makeup for you, Miss Mary Mack!" She said with authority and a little smack. But Mary wasn't about to take her mum's flack. She pouted and sobbed and then shouted back: "Fine! You win! I won't go out tonight, I hate you, mum, but I don't want to fight. George and I'll not forget this night. Don't go thinking that everything's alright!" When everyone was asleep in the eve, Mary and George conspired to thieve. Mary went to the bathroom to retrieve, her mum's makeup kit. Then they'd leave. Mary told her boyfriend hush, As she put on mascara and blush. But they had to leave in a rush For she heard her father flush. They partied until sunrise, Which was truly unwise. They returned as the bright skies Made them improvise. Mary snuck in through the back door, Then crawled on the floor As if in a war (Until her arms were sore). She crawled into bed to feign rest, But her mother too easily guessed, And loudly expressed, That she was distressed. "You've got makeup all over you Mary, If only you weren't so darn contrary! Your mascara's a mess; you look quite scary. A little makeup remover and you'd've caught me unwary. "But you didn't! And for your rebellious display, I'm taking all your privileges away." And Mary was sad; her face showed dismay. To think that all could have been avoided with a little Almay!

Movie Synopsis
Hard work is the back bone of America, and the construction industry embodies it. In this documentary, we look at how an American Universities desire to educate young people places them on a path that requires months of planning and construction, with hard work from dozens of different industries. Many machines are needed in construction, as well as a skilled labor. You will see just how complex and amazing the process of creation really is.
