To celebrate our 10th year, we asked a bunch of you some questions about being a part of the Shinkane fandom. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be posting your answers.

Tell us about the first time you watched Psycho-Pass. 

As with all media that makes me insane, I found Psycho-Pass through Tumblr. 2014 was a big disappointment to me TV-wise and I was breaking up with some long-running fandoms I’d been in due to it. I needed something new so I latched onto this show. I don’t remember which user or what post specifically convinced me but I watched the first five episodes gradually in piecemeal then the remainder of Season One in two days.

Kogami and Tsunemori have an interesting dynamic. What about it interests you?

Rookie and veteran!!! Idealist and pragmatist!! Mentor and mentee!! Aside from that, I appreciate how they break out of these dichotomous boxes, how they diverge outside the typical anime tropes to become complete and complex characters in their own right. The hallmark of a good dynamic to me has always been about two people who are markedly different on the surface but share core similarities that they utilize to inspire each other to self-actualization.

Psycho-Pass has an anime, a manga, a game, and the novels. From all of that, what is your fave canon Shinkane scene? 

The throat scene in the first movie. Real Shinkaneheads know what I’m talking about.

Which Shinkane work are you the proudest of?

My Pride and Prejudice fanart.

Music can be an influential part of your process. What song(s) do you listen to that have influenced your work? 

My playlist is just Hum Hallelujah by Fall Out Boy in a loop.

Tell us something that the Shinkane fandom wouldn’t necessarily know.

I collect novelty purses!

What is your favorite part about being in the Shinkane fandom?

The people and the events! I love seeing everyone’s support for each other and their talents in keeping our ship alive for more than a decade.

What are your hopes for Shinkane in future seasons?

I can take or leave the romance if they ever make it explicit in text. I can take any ending–tragic, bittersweet, or happy–so long as it makes sense and so long as they remain indelible in each other’s arc. What I always prioritize is their influence on each other–whether that’s positive or negative.

yeahhh lmao.. i know the locked tomb series can be divisive, but it's still kinda fun

#11: what non-fiction books do you like if any?

nonfiction is really hard for me to get into tbh!! cosmos by carl sagan is pretty good though! (i typically lean towards nonfiction about science and astronomy lmao)

#12: did you enjoy any compulsory high school readings?

i don’t even know I haven’t seen it since I was like five and I don’t even like bambi omg I just remember the chick because I remember after meeting them they were like “ew girls” or some shit

literally the only thing I remember about Bambi is that his mum gets killed by a hunter
