Towering up to 40 ft in height, the large glass windows of the Great Hall of the Museum of Anthropology provide an unobstructed view and enable the largest wooden carvings and cultural objects to be seen in daylight against a natural exterior setting. This image was taken by Anne Gingras, the Project Architect, in May 2018. The intent of the seismic upgrade of the MOA’s Great Hall is to restore the iconic structure and space to its exact design. Any intervention to a building of this stature, whether as additions or rehabilitation, must be approached with an understanding of the essence of the work, its spatial sequences, integration of structure and its finishes. This calls for the most discrete solution possible, necessitating a concentrated explorative exercise. #visitMOA #arthurerickson #corneliaoberlander #moa #seismicupgrade #vancouver #architecture #nmamoa #milkovicharch (at Museum of Anthropology) https://www.instagram.com/p/CbYHNHxveNj/?utm_medium=tumblr
