the absolute angel @shelter-maki0 drew these beautiful masterpieces inspired by my fanfics Contrapasso and Mary Magdalene. I can't describe how touched I am. @shelter-maki0, to me, is probably the greatest Tomharrymort artist there is and her works, that always look haunting and fairy-tale like, inspire me endlessly. These are so beautiful and I can't stop looking at them. 私は光栄です。どうもありがとうございます!
A small scene from 'contrapasso' by damagecontrol
Hannibal and Dante's Inferno
This isn't specific to a canto. I'm doing a rewatch and remembered something I wanted to yap about.
The idea of contrapasso is present throughout Dante's Inferno, and it is often present in how Hannibal kills. The literal translation of contrapasso is "to suffer the opposite." Punishments in Dante's Hell are often very specific to the sin. Diviners who used occult arts to see the future are condemned to have their heads twisted 180-degrees around and walk backwards for eternity, their tears falling on their butts. People who stood for nothing in life are condemned to chase a meaningless banner in death. Two brothers who killed each other are damned to spend eternity in the same grave (I like to call this Dante's Get-Along-Shirt).
Not all of a Hannibal's kills feature contrapasso, but I would argue that a lot of his Ripper kills that we see, do. The one that comes to mind most immediately is the guy (city councilman? lobbyist? something like that) who (as Price put it) "paved over paradise and put up a parking lot" only for Hannibal to kill him and graft a fucking tree into his corpse, and filled his abdominal cavity with toxic flowers. Beverly Katz was clever enough to figure him out, so he dissected (dissected isn't the right word, bear with me) her the way she dissected evidence.
Just finished contrapasso by damagecontrol like a second ago and… oh my fucking god. I am a changed person. I was screaming and giggling the entire time i was reading it (which was like an hour, two tops?) its so good whatttt. The fucking mirrors!!! Jamess!! Copenhagen i cant🤯 i fear my thirteen year old selfs obsession with fucking vampires has returned

Fanfic of the day :
contrapasso by damagecontrol
Summary:
contrapasso [con · tra · pas · so]
the punishment of souls by a process either resembling or contrasting with the sin itself.
The first time they meet is in Copenhagen.
Regulus is on holiday, halfway to drunk off his ass in a dingy back alley pub. He’s never believed in love at first sight—in fact, he thinks it’s a rather ridiculous concept—but the first time he catches sight of him across alcohol-sticky floors and air thick with smoke, Regulus might be persuaded to change his mind.

WHAT CAN I SAY ABOUT THIS?
This is perfect.
That's what I can say.
It's a Vampire hunter x Vampire (where James is the Vampire and Reggie the Vampire hunter)
I absolutely adored it! I liked how James was portrayed in this one (maybe a little different than the usual), and the smut was smutting (!!)
It's worth the read even if you are not that much into the vampire stuff (I'm not either, but it sounded too good to pass on).
Also, it's written by Damagecontrol, and they are one of the main Jegulus writer of the moment (in my opinion) and one of the best. Literally, some of my favourite fics are written by them!
A little bit of background Wolfstar and Rosekiller for the vibes aaand here you go!
Go read it, babes, and as usual, take care ✨️
New 7 page full color comic this weekend!!! I'm super weak with color but I honestly just have to push through it so I can learn. I'm not the most skilled artist around these parts, but I have a hyperfixation damn it! So yeah, Contrapasso out this weekend :)
