... Okay thanks to one of your answers I now kind of want a Sylvain/Constance support. Her being super driven and infuriated at how he’s squandering all his potential and him being kind of amused but eventually the two of them learning to work together. Or Ingrid; “What do you MEAN you have to get married and give up on your dream?! YOU are going to come with ME and we will both be awesome and bring your house back to prosperity OURSELVES!”
You know what's also interesting? They both have two sides to them. Sylvain hiding his caring nature behind the jaded womanizer and Constance's two personalities
Can you imagine her seeing his intelligence and good heart and him meeting her other self? He learns of her insecurities through the other Constance and treats her much better, takes her research more seriously and helps her and in turn she starts respecting his opinion and actively asking for his help...mmmm good shit
And Ingrid would be interesting too. She wants to make a name for herself outside of her family and Constance wants to reclaim her family name.

I'm very sad that Constance's trauma is played as a joke, at least as far as I've seen in the story a laugh track plays the first time it happens. This is just the same thing they did with Bernie :/
It's not really played for comedy, at least not constantly. It gets serious focus when it needs it, otherwise it's exaggerated for ease of portrayal. Connie and Yuri's paralogue for example is an instance where her sunlight persona get serious attention. The change from her former self to the meek, apologetic Connie in the sun gets highlighted and connected to her trauma
If they kept playing it up seriously it would get bleak quickly so they balance it between the exaggerated, easier to portray version and the serious one for serious moments.
As for Bernie, it's exaggerated again but she's actually a lot like me with her paranoia that everyone is out to get her. And since this game is from Byleth's perspective and no one has an inner voice, they make her say all the things she would usually think out loud. *shrugs* I've seen much worse portrayals, this game doesn't bother me since I can explain it away fairly easily
What type of metal illness do you think Constance has? I thought it was a multiple personality disorder, but I'm not too well informed on that so I thought I'd ask someone who knows this stuff better.
As I've said in a previous ask, it's not DID (or multiple personality disorder, as it was previously known). DID is when you have more than one distinct personality. While at first glance Constance seems to have that, she doesn't have the memory gaps that would usually come with that and she's still in control of her actions, which means the two personalities don't change control over her mind and body
I'm assuming the sunlight triggers a trauma response and the meek and self depreciating behavior is to protect herself and divert attention from her by making her seem insignificant. In a dangerous situation that could make her seem non threatening and possibly save her life, probably after hiding and being moved into the light, but when she's safe it just throws people for a loop
So where did this whole Constance has DID thing come from?? Because I sure as hell did not interpret it as that at ALL. and it feels like people are misunderstanding DID by assuming she has it just because her mood changes drastically in certain environnements.
That is a very good question, she seems to remember everything that happens when she steps into sunlight and there's no reference to her having multiple distinct personalities
The sunlight reaction is more a trauma response, I'd say, where it triggers a compulsive need to be as non-threatening and unobtrusive as possible, probably to avoid drawing attention from anyone who may want to do her harm
