The fact that Ferdinand was once going to be married to Bernadetta back when they were younger came out of nowhere for me. I think it's cute though, that they became friends in the academy and, romantic or not, enjoy being together. He's really sweet with her and I know he would be good emotional support for her if she ever needed him.
Oh man, I'm a sucker for arranged marriage being done well and this particular one is done real well. Cuz like, Count Varley wanted to marry her off for power and it never went through but in the end they do marry and he gets jack shit out of it cuz Ferdinand supports Bernie absolutely and completely and she's like "great" and just leaves house Varley behind completely
So Varley gets exactly what he wanted years ago and also doesn't at the same time. Meanwhile, Bernie is free and happy and has a husband who loves and supports her and makes her smile and is great

Looking back on screenshots I noticed that Byleth’s title changes depending on the route? Guardian of Order (AM), Ruler of Dawn (VW), Wings of the Hegemon (CF) and Wandering Flame (SS). Also looking back on all of Ferdinand’s endings I keep hearing the “one of these things is not like the others” song. For reference, they were Marianne, Bernadetta, Flayn and Hubert, which leads me to believe he has generally excellent taste in women and fuck awful taste in men.
Makes sense tho, right? Byleth's role changes depending on the route so calling the archbishop Ruler of Dawn wouldn't really fit xD

Flayn and Ferdie has a support chain revolving around them hugging and it's very adorable but at the end Ferdie says they shouldn't tell Seteth about this and Flayn agrees. Ferdie has the Crest of Cichol and now I can only imagine Seteth finding out about Flayn and Ferdie's hugging and him absolutely /fuming/ about how he trusted the first Von Aegir and this is how his descendents repay him; kind of like Rhea's breakdown over a Hresvelg descendant betraying her but 1000x more petty.

I don't even ship them but Ferdinand kicking Varley's ass specifically has become my favorite idea. I don't know why, maybe it's because Ferdie would already be offended that Varley is such a shit noble, and then he hears what Varley has done to his sweet Bernadetta ans it's time to commit a murder. Also possibly because Ferdinand is actually a puppy so you know something pushing him to get that mad would be real serious business.
It's even better when you find out that they were supposed to be married and why it didn't happen. Like, he thinks the world of Bernie and he would absolutely loath her old man, I can absolutely see him barge into Varley estate and just rip the old man a new one
