Fun fact: When gannets contract bird flu their irises turn black!
Orangutans are more than beautiful rainforest icons — they are intelligent, tree-dwelling guardians that help keep forests alive. 🦧🌿
By spreading seeds and supporting rainforest growth, they play a powerful role in their ecosystem. Sadly, orangutans are critically endangered due to deforestation, palm oil expansion, habitat loss, and the illegal pet trade.
Sharing this to help raise awareness for these incredible animals and the forests they call home. 🧡
These bastards just won't die.

Florida panther, looking quite intense, and with a splash of artistic flare. :-)
"To disregard the environmental impacts of continuing with infinite growth and reproduction submits us to our own definition of consciousness. If we define consciousness as being aware of and responsive to one's surroundings then surely disregarding that definition, by going blindly into reproduction, is a renunciation of our consciousness." -- ...an excerpt from the artwork statement from my newest limited edition print 'Neoteny'. It adresses the most important environmental issue today. Infinite population growth is the only environmental issue that underlies every other environmental issue on this Earth. Let's start talking about it! -- 'Neoteny' is now available at: ♦ www.samuelhumphreys.bigcartel.com♦ Available in an edition of 100. Printed using black & cream vegetable-based inks on 300gsm off-white uncoated matte paper. 100% recycled. -- Aligning with the motif of this illustration, each print also comes with a native Australian tree planted on your behalf by @cncfaus -- -- #populationgrowth #overpopulation #zerodeforestation #recycledpaper #recycled #conservation #fineart #reforest #reforestation #conservationart #environmentalart #nativetrees #neoteny #illustration #woodblock #blacklines #etching https://www.instagram.com/p/Busv7Q-H8oC/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=ro8oktulo3on
Because of the documentary Masters in Forbidden City (2016), more people know about the conservators, which actually is a relative young profession and most of the museums in China still do not have any in-house restoration department. Since 2017, Institution of art work restoration and research center at Guangzhou Academy of Fine Art began to restore Teochew wood-craving. The conservation of art works requires overlapping expertise of art history, anthropology, physics, chemical and the conservation with the modern technology. Besides, technicians need to repair the art work with respect, which means they need to keep every detail removed from the art work, including the dust and the cotton that has been used during the repairing process. Teochew wood-craving, also called Chaozhou wood-craving in Chinese, is a form of Chinese wood craving originated from South China since Tang Dynasty, which also is one of the national intangible culture heritage.Compared with the restoration of painting, the 3-dimensional wood-craving increase the difficulty for conservator. #art#conservationart#chinese culture#artistic#cgtn
