I love it when Jaskier is able to save Geralt, whether that be by sheer dumb luck and some guts or by immense skill like with people. Just anytime they both save the other is such a good time in my opinion.
How do you feel about it? Are you a Jaskier is the only damsel in distress or do you like them to switch off being the damsel in distress?
*Asks are sent for fun, no pressure to answer.
Oh gods, I LOVE competent/feral Jaskier, you have no idea.
I just think that there's so much potential for hilarious moments to ensue whenever someone makes Jaskier a little more dangerous than you expect him to be.
I think it's much more realistic to have Jaskier actually be able to defend himself from danger, seeing as he does travel across the continent on his own sometimes. Add in the experience he gets over the years from traveling with Geralt and you have a Bard that actually knows how to fight.
I take a lot of joy picturing Geralts disgruntled but reluctanty flustered face whenever Jaskier comes to his rescue or the small pleased smile he can't fight down whenever he sees Jaskier give back as good as he gets in a fight, surprising everyone around him because they assumed the Bard dressed in fancy clothing to be all talk with no real skill and Jaskier just flattened them.
Jaskier's face whenever he notices Geralts reaction is all smug and pleased, he can't help making some quips about it or sauntering up to Geralt, teasingly asking him if he liked the show, feeling even more pleased when Geralts face turns red in a deep blush that surprises both of them.

Ok so something happened in my brain, and I think I may just be â¨ď¸short of a marble â¨ď¸ but...
What if jaskier knew how to deliver babies?
(Yeah I'm not sure how, when, or where jaskier was trained as a midwife either I'm still figuring that out)
But WHAT IF
They come across a woman in labour and no one knows what to do, that is until Jaskier The Bard (you know the guy who wrote Toss A Coin) hands some fancy clothes to Geralt Of Rivia (who's just you know there, confused and awkward af) and ushers everyone away, says geralt darling boil water idk.
Anyway then the baby is born! Yay!
Anyway they wanna name the baby in honour of Jaskier...but they don't really like 'Jaskier' as a name so Jaskier goes through the names of everyone he loves and eventually starts making people up.
I'm â¨ď¸short of a marbleâ¨ď¸ somebody help me
I've always thought as Jaskier from The Witcher to be smart but doesn't show it cause he grew up knowing that if you show it that you will have more expectations and therefore more attention from his father which he really didn't want.
So I always liked to think that he was pretending to sleep with loads of women when really he was making a network to help out his witcher. (Some of them most likely were one night stands, but I think the mass majority would be for his network), which helps him later on with being the Sandpiper. Personal I have a concept fic on its way for this, though it needs more plotting and more research.
But I always loved smart/competent Jaskier cause the guy has a long list of majors of the 7 Liberal arts. He's not stupid. He just doesn't show it.
⥠Challenge for Netflix: stop treating Jaskier as comedic relief âĄ
(I made this post piggyback riding off of my last one, like a part two if you will.)
Ok, so you know how Jaskier always seems to get into trouble? And either Geralt and as of season 2, now Yennefer as well, always seem be rescuing him? Even Jaskier himself made a joke about it to our beloved witch.
- "You don't get to play damsel in distress. That's my job."
Sadly, it paints a little bit of an unflattering picture of him to the audience, making many of us wonder (well, not on this side of Tumblr, we know he is a badass motherfucker) about how he survives whenever he is not by a strong witcher's/sorceress's side.
Have you considered though....
That the entire series is written and shot from the POV of ridiculously powerful individuals and Geralt in particular, being the main character of both the books, games & the series, has an extreme savior complex, more so bordering on a martyr complex.
In the Netflix Witcher series and unlike the books: Geralt's friendship with Jaskier started off rocky until he begrudgingly accepted that he can not get rid of the bard, eventually becoming a little fond of him, appreciating Jaskier's loyalty above every other quality Jaskier has, which makes Jaskier easy to trust. (However it is still apparent that their friendship is a little, if not a lot, one-sided)
Obviously Geralt doesn't want Jaskier's death or severe injury on his conscience, which is why he jumps in every time he senses danger, to save him before anything bad happens.
We as the audience only see Netflix's or rather Lauren's version of the story about a scorned hero who has a fragile, trouble magnet, human friend he feels responsible for. When in reality, the only few instances Jaskier wouldn't have survived without outside help were a) the Djinn, b) Rience, c) the opening scenes of Blood Origin.
Other than that, Jaskier is actually a VERY competent person! Alas, not much of that competence was shown on screen, we got mere crumbs of it to be honest. Like how despite being a flowery pacifist, he is braver than most + apparently he is a beefcake too. At 18/19 years old, he wasn't scared of approaching a witcher who at the time, was rumored to be a murderer. He always finds a way to stay lighthearted during the most dire of situations, always getting right back up with a smile or a snide comment after every traumatic experience, as if it never happened. (Is he like immune to PTSD or something? Nothing brings him down.) He even managed to start an elf smuggling operation for fuck's sake!
During the finale episode of season 2, many seasoned witchers died in battle at the hands of Voleth Mier, his chances of surviving were beyond slim. Any other normal human being would have dropped that damn jasper and ran for their life, but not Jaskier! No sir! He crawled his way towards Geralt under a wooden table, as monsters and witchers alike dropped to their deaths around him, all to help his friend!
In the books, Dandelion is presented to us as a smooth talker, able to get himself in and out of almost any kind of trouble with words + charisma alone. He is an Oxenfurt professor, has worked for the Redanian intelligence, he has connections all over the continent.
And I really hope that we will get to see all of that in future seasons, I hope that Geralt's attitude towards him changes, I hope that Jaskier gets the respect he deserves! Because after season 2, I am going to keep watching the series only for Jaskier alone. Also Yennefer. I do not much like Geralt and Ciri in the live adaptation at the moment.
The next A Very Bouncey Halloween installment and a belated birthday gift to my darling @veritasrose. Thank you so much for the last year of friendship, I look forward to celebrating with you again. <3 you are much loved.
tw: curses, Geralt is an idiot, competent Jaskier
---
Light flashes through the room and momentarily blinds Jaskier, who stumbles back against Geralt. He mumbles an apology to the ever-sturdy Witcher as he waits for his vision to return and when he blinks clearly for the first time after a few long moments, the bard feels utterly and totally confused by the scene unfolding before him.
The Dukeâs grandest ballroom, which had been bustling with excitable party guests only moments ago, is now flooded with ghouls, ghosts, vampires, and monsters of all sorts. A woman with swanâs wings is huddled in one corner, squawking angrily at anyone who tries to draw near. A minotaur stumbles through the center of the dance floor, lowing in frustration as he tries to control his bulky limbs. Two werewolves wrestle for dominance atop the furthest banquet table to their left. As Jaskier takes it all in, he feels Geraltâs hands wrap suddenly around his bicep; the Witcher is clinging to Jaskier fiercely, leaning his not insignificant weight against the bardâs side as his eyes grow round and watery.
âWhatâs happening?â Geralt finally asks. His tone of voice seems breathy and high, filled with a terror - almost totally foreign to Jaskierâs ears. Geralt fears nothing and yet⌠âLetâs get away from this dreadful place, please!â
âArenât you going to try and solve this problem?â Jaskier asks, glancing at his companion. He gestures at the various monsters roaming freely past the buffet table. âYouâre likely the nearest Witcher, after all.â
âIâm no Witcher,â Geralt declares. He splays a hand over the very center of his blue velvet doublet (a nearly perfect imitation of the way Jaskier reacts to a perceived offense). âI am a Count. Witchers are dirty things, not meant for such a public life as my own.â
âFor fuckâs sake, Geralt, now is not the time for a prank of this nature,â Jaskier huffs. âSomething is clearly going on here. We need to help these people!â
âI know something is wrong,â Geralt sniffles - fucking sniffles - and squeezes the bardâs upper arm even more tightly. The sound of Geralt crying shakes Jaskier into understanding, even as Geralt begs: âBut I donât know how to help! Please get me out of here, Milord, Iâm scared.â
Milord? Jaskier mouths to himself, even as he wraps one comforting arm around Geraltâs waist and ushers him away from the growing chaos at the center of the ballroom. Jaskier hurries them down one suspiciously empty hallway after another until he reaches the small suite that he had accepted as payment for his performance at the party. Jaskier ushers Geralt inside and locks the heavy oak door behind them.
âMy Lord Geralt,â he gets the not-quite-Witcherâs attention. âDo you mind taking a seat by the fire for now? Iâll be right with you as soon as the room is secure, and then we can figure out whatâs going on and what to do from here.â
âYes, Milord,â Geralt nods. He hurries to comply with Jaskierâs request, to the bardâs continuing shock and awe, and stays still and quiet as Jaskier removes his doublet and rolls up his sleeves. Using the strength heâs spent twelve years at Geraltâs side developing, Jaskier shoves a bookcase, a dresser, and an unfortunately designed roll-top desk in front of the locked doors for added protection.
Moving behind Geralt with practiced efficiency, Jaskier also closes, shutters, and locks every window in the room, pulling the curtains closed to keep any light from spilling out and alerting stray creatures of their presence.
When heâs finished locking down all of their roomâs possible entrances and breathing hard from exertion, Jaskier tugs the Witcherâs xenovox from his bag and flips it open, waiting with bated breath until Yenneferâs irritated voice snaps: âWhat do you want, Geralt?â
âWho is that?!â Geralt cries from his place near the fire. He has a white-knuckle grip on the overstuffed armchair heâs perched in and his clothing is mussed; Jaskier motions for him to be quiet and Geralt bites his lip, worrying the soft pink skin between his unusually dull canines.
âWas that Geralt?â Yennefer asks. "Did Jaskier summon me?"
âYes and yes,â Jaskier replies. âI think heâs been cursed or enchanted or something. I was hired to play at the Duke of Rindeâs All Hallowâs Eve celebration and Geralt accompanied me - even dressed up for the occasion - but something happened at the party and now heâs acting strangely. I donât know what to do.â
"What's happening?" Yennefer prods.
"Geralt is acting rather out of sorts. Heâs speaking strangely, he wanted to flee the party rather than investigate the source of the changes-â
âWhat changes?â
âEveryone sort of⌠Well, a good portion of the party guests suddenly transformed into their costumes,â Jaskier explains, his speech stunted by his disbelief. âI know it sounds incredible, and it was! One moment we were all enjoying the music and the next⌠there was a minotaur and a mermaid and a faun⌠Geralt went nearly mute and started clinging to my arm like some sort of aristocratic maiden!â
âOh shit,â Yen groans.
âWho is that?â Geralt repeats. Jaskier continues to ignore his companion. He knows that the moment he turns his attention to caring for Geralt, he wonât be able to tear it away again, and he needs to finish this conversation with Yennefer first.
âWhy are you swearing?â he asks the sorceress. âWhat is it?â
âGeralt asked me for advice about this stupid ball a few days ago, while you were busy making arrangements with the Duke. He wanted to impress you with his All Hallowâs Eve costume and prove that he could be just as fancy and well-mannered as all the other men of your status.â
âWhy in the world would Geralt want to dress up and act like a nobleman? It makes no sense! He detests small talk, he hates vanity, and he finds most men of my station to be cowardly and overly delicate - myself included! I just- I donât quite understand why heâd go through all of this just to impress me. Or why he thinks this kind of thing would be impressive in the first place.â
âJaskier, please tell me that you arenât as stupid as our mutually beloved WitcherâŚâ
Jaskier considers for a moment, pondering the things that he does to impress Geralt: gathering wood, learning to cook with game meat, preparing the Witcherâs potion ingredients while he's out on hunts, organizing their packs when they're spiking camp, brushing Roachâs mane⌠Realization dawns suddenly and all at once. He has a moment of pure understanding, a moment much beloved by every poet, bard, and playwright across the Continent: âOh.â
Yennefer gives a tired laugh. âYeah.â
âSo heâs stuck as⌠a noble?â
âI suppose,â she sighs. âIâll portal you to my location and we can figure things out in peace. Get your things together, Iâll open it up in precisely five minutes.â
âWhatâs happening!?â Geralt demands. Jaskier pulls the Witcher/Count to his feet and bows shallowly.
âI am Jaskier Pankratz, Viscount de Lettenhove. I will be your protector and chaperone for the foreseeable future, Your Lordship,â Jaskier bows shallowly. âIâm going to gather our things together and then we are going to meet up with a very lovely sorceress, Yennefer of Vengerberg.â
âIs she a friend of yours?â
Jaskier barely manages to hide his surprise at Geraltâs utter lack of recognition. His memories of Yennefer have also been taken, then.
âSheâs a mutual friend.â
âAre you my friend?â
âI would like to think so,â Jaskier smiles. Geralt remains oblivious to the bardâs heartache, even as he curls himself against Jaskier. He tucks his face against Jaskierâs shoulder and sobs quietly. The bard runs his hands comfortingly up and down Geraltâs spine for a long, soothing moment. The smooth, royal-blue velvet tickles his fingertips. âShh, dear heart. Iâve got you. Everything will be alright, I swear.â
âI trust you,â Geralt whispers.
Just as Jaskier is about to reply, Yenneferâs portal snaps open in the center of the room. Jaskier hands Geralt a set of bags and hauls his own over his shoulder. âTime to go, Your Lordship. Just take one little stepâŚâ
---
âDo you know who I am?â Yennefer asks. Geralt shakes his head before burying his face in the back of Jaskierâs shoulder-blade.
âIâm so frightened, Milord.â
Frightened? Milord? Yennefer mouths. Jaskier shrugs nearly imperceptibly and makes a panicked gesture in the Witcherâs general direction.
âI donât know what to do either!â
âWell, start from the beginning. Tell me what happened at the party before all of⌠this.â
Jaskier recounts every detail he can remember in the most straightforward way possible, momentarily renouncing his poetic skills in favor of efficiency - for Geraltâs sake, of course, not Yenneferâs. When he's finished he asks: âAnd you said he did all of this to impress me?â
âYes.â
âBut why?â Jaskier repeats his earlier question. Yennefer understands that his meaning is different; Jaskier understands that Geralt is interested in him romantically, but the bard can't seem to get it through his head that Geralt has deemed him worthy. Although, knowing the Witcher, he isn't even sure how to go about doing such a thing in the first place.
"I just... I donât quite believe you," he adds.
âHe loves you,â Yennefer reiterates. "And now heâs stuck like this until the effects of the spell wear off, so I suggest you take his precious Lordship to one of my spare rooms and make yourselves comfortable. Iâll see you both for breakfast, providing the magic is null and void by then.â
âAnd if it isnât?â
âI hope you enjoy small talk, you bardic bastard.â
Yennefer smirks and disappears from the room in a whirl of black and white silk, the scents of lilac and gooseberry curling through the air in her wake.
Geralt clings to Jaskierâs bicep again as the exhausted bard stands, keeping his larger body pressed against the humanâs side as if Jaskier is the one who wields the Witcherâs swords. âSo Iâm under a spell?â
âYes, darling.â
âAt least I have you here to protect me, Jaskier. Youâre so brave and strong; my hero!â
âItâs usually the other way around, dear heart, but I appreciate the sentiment. Now, how about we find a comfortable place to bed down for the night, Milord?â
"Alright."
Jaskier moves Geralt's hand so that it's curled around the inside of his elbow, the proper etiquette for a platonic escort, and leads him quickly down the long hallways of Yennefer's sprawling manor house. He chooses the blue-themed bedroom at the back of the East Wing, far from the sorceress' own suite of rooms.
He has to help Geralt change out of his lordly costume, the Witcher-turned-Count fumbling uselessly at the laces and buttons as if he'd never seen a fastening before in his life. Geralt whispers shyly as Jaskier pulls a nightshirt over his head: "Thank you again, Milord Jaskier. I feel as if I can't help but continue indebting myself to you."
"Think nothing of it, dear heart," Jaskier smiles, ignoring the pang in his chest. "I am happy to help you."
Jaskier tucks Geralt into bed before changing into his own nightclothes, tossing his things back into their travel bags as he swaps outfits. He feels Geralt tense up when he sits on the edge of the bed and his eyebrows narrow in concern.
"Are you alright, Geralt?"
"Are you going to share a bed with me?"
"Would you rather I didn't?" Jaskier answers with a question of his own.
"I... I wouldn't mind it if we shared."
Jaskier wishes he had Witcher sight, so he could catch a glimpse of the blush no doubt attempting to stain the Witcher's face. Despite the mutagens, Geralt's face still went pale pink when he encountered a strong emotion. It was adorable. And incredibly rare.
As soon as he pulls the covers over his chest, Geralt glues himself to Jaskier's side, snuggling close. "Feels safer," he says in lieu of explanation.
"Goodnight, dear heart."
"Goodnight."
---
"Fuck," Geralt groans, sitting up in bed. Jaskier sits up beside him, wiping the sleep from his eyes with the back of his hand.
"Good morning, Milord," he teases.
"Shut up," Geralt groans. Jaskier does get to see him blush this time, and the bard revels in it; he would trade all the gold in the world to see Geralt flush like this. "I can't believe I cried on you!"
"It was rather adorable, actually."
"Hmm."
"Still..." Jaskier reaches out, tentative, and cups Geralt's cheek with his palm. He turns the Witcher's face and locks their gazes together, blue meeting gold. "Still, I think I prefer you as you are. My big, strong Witcher who cares so much about defending the little guy. Willing to step in and help wherever and whenever he can."
Geralt's eyes get a little glassy and he leans forward, pausing and letting Jaskier make the final decision. The bard meets him halfway, pressing his lips against Geralt's without any sense of urgency at all. It's warm and sweet, time fading away as they let their feelings pour through this one simple gesture. When they pull apart again, Geralt gives a surprised, lopsided smile. "Oh."

We all know Iâm a slut for powerful jaskier content, but jaskier with ice powers?! sign me the fuck up
excuse me while I drop a few headcanons for this
jaskier was born with ice powers, his parents first noticed when he was a toddler and made it snow above his crib
elemental powers was a gift jaskierâs motherâs family had been blessed with by the fae decades ago, and often skipped several generations (although all members were disturbingly long lived)
his parents loved him, but feared for his safety if anyone were to find out that the viscountâs son had special abilities he would be killed (thanks to all of the ridiculous anti non-human royal fanatics out there)
they also struggled with how to teach jaskier how to control his powers, nobody in his family had been born with ice elemental powers in generations, it was an exceedingly rare ability
and so in order to protect jaskier, they often kept him away from others, cooped up in his room and only in the company of his parents, tutors, and nannies
as he grew, so did his powers, and jaskierâs parents became even more desperate to control his abilities
they sought out the assistance of a witch, who provided them with a powerful glamour that would help tamper jaskierâs abilities while wearing the amulet it was tied to
but this was only a small solution, because while the glamour restricted jaskierâs powers, he still could not control them very well
his parents set off to Skellige, searching for help from a tribe of people there rumored to have similar powers
but their ship went down at sea, and both of jaskierâs parents perished
jaskier didnât know what else to do, but he knew that he could remain in his home no longer, not without his parents
and so jaskier ran away to oxenfurt, leaving the estate in his cousinâs capable hands
at oxenfurt jaskier found a second home, but he spent every day hiding himself away
his powers were often ruled by his own emotions, and bouts of extreme anger and frustration were key to setting them off
and so in fear jaskier kept his amulet glamour on at all times, but he could feel his power rebelling at being pushed down and trapped within himself
it was all jaskier could do to ignore it
and then he set off from oxenfurt and met geralt, and spent the next twenty years traipsing after a man who thought he was nothing more than an ordinary human, and jaskier couldnât bring himself to tell the man he loved more than anything else in the world that he was wrong
the years went by, and the storm of jaskierâs powers grew, and the bard did what he did best: ignored it
and then there was yennefer, and the mountain, and jaskier thought heâd spend the rest of his life picking up the pieces of his broken heart, frozen as it was
but then there geralt was, standing in front of him in the middle of nowhere, months after the mountain, a witch and a princess lingering a few feet behind him and.... apologizing?
jaskier didnât know whether to laugh or to cry, and so he settled with kicking geralt in the balls and then kissing the living daylights out of him
and geralt kissed back
a few weeks of life on the run from nilfgaard later and jaskier is sure itâs all about to be over
nilfgaard had finally caught up to them just shy of the Blue Mountains, so fucking close to freedom, and they were losing
there were too many soldiers
too many for geralt to fight, and yen with her depleted magic could only do so much
jaskier stood in front of ciri, dagger clutched in hand and ready to fight to the bloody end to protect her, when his fingers brushed the amulet ever present at his throat
oh
oh fuck
maybe they werenât screwed over after all
the storm inside of jaskier rolled, as if sensing its impending freedom
he could do it. if jaskier could, at the very least distract nilfgaard, it would be enough for the others to get away, retreat to kaer morhen
jaskier knew what he had to do
as if destiny herself was lining up, at that very moment both geralt and yennefer backed up to jaskierâs sides, no doubt preparing for a final stand
âwhat?â the witcher asked, his eyebrows narrowing as if he couldnât begin to comprehend his bardâs stupidity
yenneferâs eyes lowered to where jaskierâs hand clutched his amulet in a death grip, and understanding filled her face
âDo as he says geraltâ the witch shouted over the clanking of incoming soldiers, surrounding them
geralt looked at them as if they were out of their minds. maybe they were.
jaskier reached up and let one hand cup his witcherâs face, meeting his golden gaze with determination
âPlease, geralt.Trust meâ Jaskier could feel geraltâs resolve weakening at yenneferâs lack of hesitation. He took a step back.
âWhat are you going to do jaskier?â The bard payed him no mind, turning to face the hoard of black soldiers. Over his shoulder he called,
âIf something happens, run to kaer morhen. donât look back, donât worry about me. save ciriâ
He could hear geraltâs growl even from several yards away
âJaskier, what-â
jaskier tuned him out, grasping the amulet in his hand. his fingers trembled, and the storm roared, a battle cry. he took a deep breath, and ripped the amulet from his neck. As the chain broke, the storm inside jaskier rushed up, racing through his body and electrifying his veins. He had never felt his power like this before. His powers were that of ice but in this moment jaskierâs soul felt like it was on fire.Â
your blacksmith/baker AU, I don't know what image ends me first, Geralt kneading that bread or Jaskier working that hammer đľ
akfadlfadsfhk thank you so much for letting me know. Allow me to attempt to resolve your problem.Â
Part 1
Jaskierâs dropping off some equipment for the bakery that Geralt had ordered, and a bag of coal from his own stores as well, because he knows Geralt is desperate to start baking again, and the trader who supplies them wonât be coming around for another week. He sees how Geraltâs eyes light up when Jaskier explains this, and follows him to the ovens, chattering about the traders who come through, and how Jaskier is sure thereâs something wrong with that road since it canât be normal for that many people to need new horseshoes, or help replacing cart wheels. Geralt doesnât look up from where heâs lighting the ovens, but asks âHmmm, who around here helps replace cart wheels?â
âMe, of course, though Iâm not sure why, itâs not like Iâm the strongest man here.â
Geralt glances over at Jaskier's toned arms, places on his hips and imagines the sight of him lifting up a cart to remove the wheel. âhmmm, canât imagineâ.
I donât know, maybe people are just used to going to the smith with these kinds of problems?I mean itâs not like I mind the work, but even the bootmakerâs been doing a roaring trade, Itâs ridiculous!â
âYou know the bootmaker?â Geralt asks, grabbing the new mixing bowl Jaskier had brought with him and starts measuring out ingredients.
âOh, yes, her shop is right across from mine, see?â He points out the window, Geralt nods, though itâs not in his line of sight. âShe says that people are so desperate to have their shoes mended or replaced that theyâre willing to stand around outside and wait for her to finish with them so they can have them immediately. I see them too.â
âReally?â
âOh, yes, thereâs a clear view of the shop from my forge, I see them when Iâm working, standing around with nothing to do, I canât imagine why though.â he lights up âHey maybe you should put a few tables in here, itâs near enough and Iâm sure theyâd be happy to have something to do while they wait, you could have a whole little cafe, wouldnât that be great?â
âI think,â begins Geralt, looking Jaskier up and down, smirking slightly, âthat I might be better off putting the tables outside, where theyâd have a better view of... the bootmaker.â
As much as I like the idea of a highly competent Jaskier infiltrating courts and living the high life on the edge when he worked for the Redanian Secret Service, Iâd like you to consider the ridiculous alternative: Jaskier was a shitty spy and literally everyone knew he worked for the secret service but his music was so fucking good no one gave a shit and was pretty much like âoh well sacrifices must be madeâ
