Farewell to Nichelle Nichols. She and the rest of the Star Trek crew taught me what it meant to be human. As a kid, I didnβt realize how progressive that idea was, but it influenced the rest of my life. I donβt draw that many characters from popular culture, but this image is one I had it in my head to make for a long time. Lt. Uhura is also one of the crew of space explorers to be found investigating my basement. Nichelle had some struggles at the end of her life, and my heart goes out to her family.
