oh man yeah there's a lot of folks out there who will scream 'bUt ThE bEaUtY oF tHe WoOd' about things that are actually 90% particle board and 10% veneer. meanwhile, even for fancy solid wood antiques, sometimes paint is the fastest way to prevent more damage to the wood? like unless you have the time, money, and motivation to restore a piece, it'd just rot in a garage somewhere. boomers are wild about this shit even if they've never done woodworking in their lives.
This! Also, it was sitting in some dudeās garage. Iām going to paint it dark blue and put gold leaf on the edges of the recessed areas and itās going to bring me a lot more joy than it was bringing anyone in that garage. And yet:
