So recently,
I rewatched Marvlous Mrs. Masel, it’s an amazon prime original series. And that’s a real shame because everyone should watch this show it’s amazing. It is about this woman in the late 1960’s (I think) whose husband cheats on her and then she becomes a comedian, and she is good at it.
So watching this show was kind of a shock, i have to say. When the main character, Midge, tells her parents her husband left, their first response is “Why? What did you do?”. And that was a little jarring.
Another shocking point was in this scene where Midge’s father is at work, he’s a professor at some university and there were maybe five female students in the very back of the lecture hall. And it was strange since all my life my mother has repeatedly told me that i have no choice in the matter, that I am going to college. And to see that 60-70 years ago there were maybe five girls in a class.
