Found these two in a comics shop in downtown Boston close to Faneuil Hall. I just stopped in on the walk to the ferry for a few minutes and spent 5 minutes glancing through the (well-stocked) manga section and randomly found these two! The gender swap one looks cute and silly, I will report back. But Iām really excited for the X-gender one. Itās about being non-binary in Japan and is autobiographical, and Iām so excited to read about someone elseās experience of nonbinaryness in another culture!
A little disappointed that the comics shop, which had a regular book section full of queer books, a vinyl records section, and a kpop section, did not have any Danmei. The shop clerk looked at me like I was crazy when I asked. Iām like. They are NYT Bestsellers, and have a huge audience overlap with Manga! Why are you acting like youāve never heard of them??? Oh well. I have already ordered my next volumes from my local indie anyway, I just wanted to look.
