Dark Horse has announced a new 3-issue miniseries set in the Star Wars Universe. Star Wars: Tales from the Nightlands hails from writer Cavan Scott. The new Nightlander character design is by Iain McCraig, letters are by Comiccraft, and cover art is by Francesco Francavilla. Each issue will feature a different artist - Soo Lee for #1, Vincenzo Riccardi for #2, and Robert Hack for #3.

"On the planet Ryloth, Twi’leks speak in hushed tones about the Nightlands, the spectral realm where their spirits retire after death. According to legend, there are certain nights when the veil between that haunted place and the land of the living is so thin that one can communicate with the other side.

Enter: The Nightlander, a Star Wars boogeyman who seeks to possess a powerful, living host and bring despair to the galaxy!" (Dark Horse)

Each issue will pit different characters against this new foe - Padawan Anakin Skywalker and Master Obi-Wan Kenobi in in Issue #1, Luke and Leia in Issue #2, and Rey are Finn in Issue #3.

Star Wars: Tales from the Nightlands #1 (of 3) goes on sale on September 3, 2025. The issue features the main cover by Francavilla and a Concept Art variant cover by Iain McCraig.

Hello readers.

This week’s blog post will be a very short one, as I don’t have very much to say about this page. It seems to be that way for every splash page I post, which makes a lot of sense, considering these pages are all art and very little writing.

In this page, Hank enters the tomb. I don’t remember exactly what I put in the script for Greg to draw here, but it was something akin to ‘draw whatever you want’, and I was very happy with the results.

Greg captured the essence of the story with this page, as he manages to do with each cover. I find that surrendering control of the page to the artist produces incredible results. Though I suppose that would depend on the artist. I’m lucky to be working with Greg.
