a few study tips for myself
If you didnât study as much as you wanted to, didnât get as many questions right as you wanted to, or anything towards the lines of âyou didnât reach a certain goal you wanted to reach in a certain period of timeâ, donât torture yourself over it. Let it go. Move on. Try again.
DO >NOT<, I said DO NOT do all-nighters. Theyâre so bad for your anxiety and for your depression, and can often trigger both of them. Donât do it!!! Just take the time to write down everything you need to do and do it throughout the week, or the next morning. Thereâs literally no need to do it all at once if youâre going to feel so bad over it afterwards.Â
If you didnât wake up early, or as early as you wanted to, thatâs okay, your dayâs not wasted, you can still get a few things done, just adjust your day to the amount of hours youâre going to have. This one might seem silly, but lately with this whole productivity trend on tumblr and youtube, I feel sometimes like I have to wake up at 5am or 6am, like a lot of these people do,in order to get things done and start my day properly. Donât get me wrong, waking up early is great and it does save you a lot of time, but itâs not essencial everyday - if maybe you were working late or you just slept in cause you were really tired/fatigued, just let it be, and then, like I said, work with the hours you have.Â
On that note: PRODUCTIVITY DOES NOT EQUAL HEALTH. Let that really sink in. Youâre not a machine. You needing breaks and getting tired is what makes you human, so donât judge those moments - and please, donât advocate them either. Rest. And donât ever feel guilty about it.Â
Donât advocate time for yourself. Always have a few hours each day to be in touch with yourself, to engage in some kind of spiritual/religious practice, or just meditate. Always have a day of the week where you can stop and digest everything that happened throughout the week, maybe write about it, journal, and a day dedicated to your next week, where you can get your shit together, clean the house, and do some planning. Which brings me to my next point:Â
Always, always take a few hours of your weekend to plan your next week. Donât ever advocate that either. It is needed and yes sometimes seeing the amount of work youâre gonna have to put up with that week can make you nervous, but just breath in and trust you can do it. Your weeks can get so messy and you end up having to work a lot more if you donât plan, so. That also counts for your meals!! Plan your meals!! Save yourself some freaking time!! Like Kati Morton greatly said in a recent video, most times, self-care means not self-indulging into a movie, a tv show or a bunch of unhealthy food, but doing things for your future self. Plan ahead. Do your laundry and clean your house regularly. Donât wait until everythingâs messy and you have no clothes to wear to finally do things. Do your freaking homework and your assignments as soon as you can. Youâll feel so much better about yourself.
