I don't even know. Really. 30 days of Drabbles days 7 and 8
He pulled at the collar and the tie, nervous. He was literally on edge and couldn't stay still, moving and twitching and fiddling with the tux. Formal wear really wasn't his thing at all. He raised a hand to his hair before he remembered that he'd taken the time to do something with it, and lowered his hand. He put his hands in his pockets and then took them out.
Then he saw her, and he felt every muscle and nerve calm and relax, a smile formed on his lips and he melted. She was beautiful, and he loved her.
Connor stared at the blue Police box in front of their flat, right near the curb. That had most definately Not been there yesterday. Eyes wide, he took a step down the stairs, and stopped again.
"Conn, c'mon we're going to be late!" Abby didn't look at it, merely exited their flat and locked the door before walking swiftly down the steps and towards her car. "Stop faffing around and get in the car, love." She added when he didn't join her.
"What, Connor?" She stopped and turned around, raising an eyebrow. He wrenched his attention away from what looked an awful lot like the TARDIS from Doctor Who to admire his Fiance. Beautiful as always. He pointed at the Blue box, turning his head to make sure it was still there.
She looked, and then raised both eyebrows at him.
"I didn't put it there, Abbs, honest."
"Are you sure? Not Duncan playing a trick on us or something?" She was skeptical, but he was already headed towards it. "Connor! Wait for me, at least?" She shook her head in amusement. He'd open it and be dissapointed, and she'd have the job of cheering him up. She didn't mind, she loved her Connor, the dork that he was. He did wait for her, standing in front of the strangely out-of-place Police Box.
Then they leapt back as the door opened and - They both stared in amazement at the man who grinned out at them.
Hey, if there are holes in time and space called anomalies, why can't the star of Connor's favorite TV show be real in some dimension? She took Connor's hand, holding him back. They had a life here, why should they go off on adventures? They were going to be married in a week's time, their jobs were more important than ever, and they still hadn't gotten their friends - Jess and Becker - to admit they liked each other.
"Please, Abbs?" She rolled her eyes. If this really was the Doctor, a Time Lord - however impossible, no, improbable, that sounded - for all they knew they could get back within days of their leaving, right?
"So now we're your companions, right?" She commented more than asked, staring around her with a smile to match Connor's dazed grinning expression at the inside of the TARDIS. There was no way this was not real.
Inside, Connor was dancing a jig, and he could hardly form words. He just gaped around him, at the Doctor, at the Tardis, and Abby was just happy to see him so happy. Since New Dawn he'd been a mess, sometimes blooming with happiness and acting like his old self, and at other times - namely when someone was injured or he'd had no luck at figuring out the anomalies - he was like he'd been in the bunker in the future, depressed. Right now, though, she ran at him and hugged him tight, before looking at the Doctor.
