COM-001 Community Replies, DMs, Asks, Mentions, & Submit
There are a few different ways to communicate on Tumblr.
Replies are done beneath a post. If you want to reply to a post, click the reply icon and make a comment for others to see.
DMs are private chat messages you have with other people on Tumblr. You can access those by clicking/tapping the chat bubble on your dash.

Mentions are when you want a friend to see a post or reply directly to them beneath a post. To mention someone, type @username.
You can see your mentions in the activity section.
Desktop
Click the lightning bolt icon in the top right of your dash.
Mobile
Tap the chat bubble at the bottom of the app
Asks are like DMs, but you can reply to them publicly on your blog or privately. You can access your asks by checking your inbox.
Desktop
Click the letter icon at the top of your dashboard.
Mobile
Tap the human icon on the bottom of the app
Tap the gear icon at the top of your blog
Select “Inbox”
Submit is used to send longer messages and images. Submit is a great tool for gathering user generated content. You can also use it to run a submission blog with posts exclusively made by your followers. Submissions show up in your ask inbox.
If you don't see the ask or messaging icon on another blog, it’s nothing personal. They don’t want to talk to anyone. :)
