Collette Rayner, Two Lives Not Three, Concrete, wax and wooden slats, 2012 " The slats meet the upper concrete level at an 865 degree angle. This subtly suggests the employment of balance as a supportive force. Built with a concealed internal structure, the width and give of the wooden slats allows for the structre to teeter slightly when approached, whilst remaining stable. They used to sleep in the towers didn’t they? In the actual ...*hand gestures*
One turret, the inside turret was accommodation and the other turret was the ammunition. They used have all that ammunition in there. They had …hundreds. I think fifteen years ago there was still one of the old guns on there... Rusted solid but then…then they pushed it over the side.
So did you meet Roy quite a few times then?

Yeah, larger than life. You knew he was an important person. It was like standing next to Prince Phillip or something.

He had that…thing about him.

I’ve read a lot about him as a person and he sounds… by all accounts-
-Yeah-
Well told me a story about how he got his German automatic pistol. He had come face to face with a German officer. The officer fired about seven times at him and missed. He just took one shot and killed him, but he said it was only cos the officer was such a lousy shot that he survived. So he picked his gun up and he kept that gun. And the gun was still on there. It was a 9 mm.
