Today is National Best Friend Day and while I could have posted something of Jenna Coleman and Peter Capaldi playing Twelve and Clara, their real-life friendship, which has endured long after leaving the show, is an amazing example to use on this day. This is one of my favourite clips, of Jenna receiving a Harper’s Bazaar Woman of the Year award in 2018. What you need to remember is this was three years after she’d played Clara for the last time (not counting her cameo in Peter’s finale), and yet when she was asked to choose someone to present the award to her (I guess that’s how the HB awards work it), she chose Peter.
True, it’s possible she might have just felt sorry for him and wanted to give him an excuse to leave the house (if you haven’t watched the video before, keep watching to the end), but I think it was a touching sign of friendship and respect.
