What if Felicienne took her family with her when she fled?
She could have tried? But they would probably have been cornered and killed. Felicienne was being hunted by the Crows and multiple other factions, including several bards. In order to keep her family safe, she needed to cut ties.
Had she tried to bring them? Enansalas would not have been able to make it with his lungs, Syth would have caused HUGE problems as a mage, Ly would have wanted to stand and fight. Likely, they would have been taken hostage and used against her.
On plain paper is heavily indented script, as if the writer was constantly pressing hard on the page for each word. The letters are in crooked print as if written by a commoner: @codexharlot
Respectfully, Ellorian Lavellan,
I acknowledge your success as a leader of the people you have gathered around you, yet I am in dismay that you misuse the title of "Inquisitor" in your efforts to disrupt and otherwise ignore the needs of the people under your chapter of the Inquisition.
I understand you come from a similar position of the downtrodden and antagonized by humans, yet I believe you have the capability to disregard expectation and commit to a more compassionate position.
As a qunari, my reputation among humans has faced similar barriers in my integration into their society and as official Inquisitor of the Inquisition formerly occupying neutral land between Orlais and Ferelden. I grew up a mercenary because it was expected of me and I was presented few opportunities to grow beyond those expectations until the Conclave.
Yet, I find that you have endangered others in either ignorance or refusal to protect them from dangers that cannot be ignored even in the face of overwhelming power. For example: protecting mages from massacre is a noble goal, however there is an inherit danger in suddenly expecting soldiers and Circle trained mages to overcome the social and power barriers each has grown up in such a short time span. I am a mage myself, and yet I also understand that for mages to be considered equals, they must be conscripted as equals and shown how different Circle communities are from less isolated groups.
I applaud your influence in reuniting certain influential Orlesian nobility and your commitment to retaining lost knowledge at the cost of your own freedom, but I still cannot condone your actions performed under the Authority of the Inquisition during overwhelming fear of Corypheus. Under my remaining authority as primary Inquisitor, I will place the safety of my people and resources above your personal desires if they do not at least somewhat benefit more than one person in the future.
Considering our lack of Grey Wardens by your influence, I sincerely hope that future does not include the addition of an Archdemon.
Regards,
Ashkaari Adaar
8-10 for Charlotte and Deacon?
8. Nicknames? & if so, how did they originate?
Deacon tosses out “babe” once and Charlotte shuts that down real quick. It’s just “Lottie” if he’s gonna start with nicknames. It’s a nickname she’s had since she was a kid, something her older sister gave her.
It feels good to hear it said again.
Charlotte just takes to calling him different names based on whatever disguise he’s currently wearing (”Hey Steve!” “Look out Jeff!” “Hello, Mike.”). It’s mostly a joke, but also her trying out names to see if he reacts to any of them like they’re his actual name. Deacon sees it coming from a mile away so he flinches every couple of names just to fuck with her. Eventually, she settles on “Dee” if they're off the clock.
9. Who worries the most?
Already answered!
10. Who remembers what the other one always orders at a restaurant?
Deacon can probably remember what everyone in the restaurant ordered while they were there. It’s all important scouting info. The waiters could be Coursers if they always get the orders right. Humans make mistakes.
He definitely remembers what she always orders, it’s valuable intel (and it’s easy because she always orders the same things).
1, 8, 14, 34 for Samllara? (is that the ship name? Ellarsam?)
Oh god, a ship name. Have they ascended to ship name status? Ellarson maybe? Is there a voting board I have to take this to? Do I need a certain amount of signatures?
1) How do they fall asleep? Wake up? Any daily rituals?
Once he’s champion and they’re more or less cohabitating her apartment in Skyhold, Samson’s the first into bed. He might read for a bit, either reports or for pleasure before crashing. Ellara’s a night owl and is awake for several more hours. She slips into bed and is usually out like a light. Samson sort of sprawls, they usually have their legs tangled up by morning.
He’s the first up at the crack of dawn to throw on his training gear and head down to the ring for some sparring before breakfast. He comes back up, washes up, medicates, and if Elle’s not up on her own, he’ll begin the long process of waking her up for breakfast in the great hall. Once it becomes habitual enough, she usually just wakes up to him pouring water in the wash basin.
Their days are so varied, their only rituals probably only exist around meal times and this sleep routine. If they don’t manage catch lunch at the same time, they make sure to get dinner together. The great hall is usually loud and boisterous during meals but the foods good?
8) What do the like best about their partner?
Ellara likes his tenacity, his compassion, the way his soldiers look at him when he speaks, his sense of humor, his voice when he first wakes up,
Samson likes her patience, her compassion, the way her eyes twinkle when she’s a liiiiittle drunk and/or telling a story, her dedication, and her laugh.
14) Anything they both dread?
Orlesians, small children, the snow, and the corruption finally overtaking him.
34) Do they have any pets?
Having an animal purely for companionship that doesn’t actually do anything is sort of a strange concept to Ellara (and to the Dalish in general, I think). I wrote about the Dalish having specialized hunting dogs a while ago. Ellara brings back two of Clan Lavellan’s hunting hounds after visiting what remained of Clan Lavellan after the people of Wycome attacked and killed them.
The hounds don’t live with her in her apartment, she thinks that’s strange. Dogs live outside, not inside. Loranil tends to them and they sleep in the barn with Blackwall (who loves those two dogs even though they aren’t super friendly). She sometimes brings them out on excursion or hikes if she thinks there’s anything to hunt.
Samson loves hanging out with the dogs because dogs are great. The first time the big red one laid down near him and put his muzzle on Samson’s knee, he was like “I have been accepted into the pack. I am one of them. I will never wash these pants again.” Samson visiting the dogs is part of how Blackwall and he get to talking.
Samson’s named them, although they don’t answer to him in the slightest, and he doesn’t know any of the Dalish command words. He’s tried repeating what Loranil says, but he does it so poorly the dogs sort of just side-eye him.
Answering shippy things!

Hello! I didn't want to clutter up your blog with reblogging the same post over and over so I thought I'd do it in an ask. The conversation with Dorian is perfect. I'm writing something very similar, where my Inquisitor has a prosthetic (a magical one, even) but still must learn on her own that it isn't the fix she thought it was going to be. I just wanted to let you know that I appreciate you being sensitive to this topic, and that you can always send me an ask <3
Thank you! I appreciate it. The reblog thing is getting a little out of whack with all of us writing at once. :)
codexharlot replied to your post “How does Ellara like her baths? Scented oils, candles, bubbles, just...”
Ellara and Ellorian in a modern AU, buying too much shit at LUSH. Samson carries the bags.
YAS. Get him a pretzel to munch on and he’s gtg. Ellorian catches Ellara still trying to eat things that aren’t food.
Ellorian: “Ellara, no.” Ellara: “IT IS BAR SHAPED AND SMELLS LIKE LEMONS. IT'S GOTTA BE A LEMON BAR.”
They buy Sam a few nice smelling things as a thank you for holding their bags.
