Ziel’s relationship with Thaine is the most stressful and painful thing. I’m halfway through COA 2 and I’m just about convinced there is no hope for them to overcome what happened in the past. Just because Phael and Ziel were able to fix things, doesn’t mean these two can... sadly.

Ziel motioned towards where Scarlette had gone, “Why did you have Scarlette leave? She’s a Council member too.”

Thaine shook his head, wincing as he did, “She is his target. Why would I willingly lead her to him?”

“Why would you willingly lead me to him?”

Thaine scoffed, “I believe I’ve already made that clear enough.”

Ziel felt another strike of resentment, “I do not believe you have.”

He hesitated, kicking at the snow angrily as he spit out his words, “I’ve made more than enough mistakes, and now it seems they are all coming back to haunt me unless I do something right this time… and you and Scarlette are the ghosts.” When he glanced up at Thaine, his face became flushed. “I’m not asking for forgiveness. I don’t want it – I want this nightmare to be over.”
