My favorite part of April is hearing all the program music for the little kids gunning for the competition my rink hosts.
It truly is the best of the best.

Know this is a long shot but please spread this (need new pieces for work) What are your favorite piano pieces? I need classical piano pieces for work. Preferably pieces that paint a picture. K
need a rec for a piece of classical music with a specific vibe
I am sorely out-of-touch with classical music but I have a need for a piece to be referenced in a story I’m working on.
background:
An immortal spirit (who’s only been immortal for 86 years) falls in love with a woman he met while in his physical form. He breaks an agreement with a much older and much more vengeful spirit, and this leads to the 1847 death of the woman he loves.
He spends the next decade wallowing in misery, confining himself to a dark place as a self-imposed punishment. Eventually, he gets a telepathic baseball bat to the head when he hears a composition being played that moves him to the core. He feels not-so-alone anymore, and decides to forgive himself for her death.
So, I basically need a composition that was first performed anywhere from 1860 to 1875 that exudes the feeling of “i am so incredibly sad but maybe just maybe it might get better”
It can be a piece for any instrument or played with any combination of instruments. I’m thinking without vocals would be best, although like I said, I don’t know much about classical music lol
Does anyone have any recommendations? any info/suggestions are appreciated!
