(A/N: Okay, so I’m basically combining the GN and Male nicknames since I can’t really think of anything Vergil may call his male s/o in particular in comparison to Dante. Plus, Vergil of all people isn’t exactly one for pet names aside aside from some of the more traditional ones...for the most part).

...No, seriously. This sort of thing is to be expected with him. Vergil’s rarely one for pet names in general, or at least in public. More often than not, you’re more likely to here something like this. 

He’s not exactly “great” at it, but you gotta give it to him that he certainly tries. The man tries, dammit! 

And when it’s not something like this, it’s usually when the two of you are alone, because like hell would he ever risk even considering the idea of Dante overhearing him, knowing he’d never allow him to hear the end of it. 

Any other real pet names he may use, you can bet your ass he’s not going to be using them in public. That, and when he does use them, they’re much more likely to be much more traditional in comparison to what his twin would likely use.  

Look it may seem like an insult (or a very backhanded compliment, give or take) but he tries and cares...but is just really shit at showing/voicing it more often than not (Vergil you filthy tsundere).

I mean, for him, you are basically his other half, a half that makes him feel loved and warm---the other half that makes him feel complete. It won’t be often that he may use the term “better,” but when he does it’s most likely while the two of you are having a particularly personal and intimate moment while strictly in private.

This and/or any other language variation of “my love/love” or any other more traditional pet name he may otherwise use. Since I also headcanon that Vergil is bilingual and can definitely fluently speak a wide variety of languages (or at least understand them), a part of me can see him doing this. 

That, and I can also see him doing this as a way to be the smartass show off that he is while basically flaunting his intelligence. (Once again, that ever enormous ego of his knows no bounds, i s2g...)
