𝙂𝙞𝙛𝙩𝙚𝙙 🌭 Corndogs are something that aren’t too familiar in this country. You can mostly liken it to a sausage in batter on a stick. Cornmeal is used for the batter and it’s a staple food of the average US diet apparently 😛. @twodogsldn have brought them to London! Down at @the_bread_and_roses_pub they have a menu full of variations of the American classic, along with other traditional US food items, such as biscuits. You’ve got 6 corndogs to choose from, I got to try the classic, Dogzilla (wasabi sauce, Japanese mayo, furikake), and Nashville Hot. I thought these were great, the batter is nice and light with a crisp bite, the sauces are great, the sausage is meaty. Your other 3 options are a Nacho dog, a brisket and bbq sauce, and Costa Del Dog, which is n’duja, manchego cheese, and pardon peppers, which all sound as delicious. The tots are great too, light and fluffy, crisp on the outside. The brisket tots are really good, the brisket itself is cooked really nicely and full of flavour. I’m a big fan of the lobster roll. It does come in at £18, but that’s expected. But even so, it was delicious. The brown butter mayo was an awesome touch and went perfectly with the natural creaminess of the lobster. You’ve then got a section of biscuit sandwiches. If you’ve never had an American biscuit before it’s a lot like a scone. I had the crispy 7Up fried chicken version, which is topped with a maple miso butter. It’s nice, but it needs something else with it like a gravy mayo, or a pot of gravy to dunk it in. They are working on it though so it may be updated soon! Very impressed with the food here, very different to what you usually have in London.
