The James family is busy as bees getting ready for Winterfest! Or as we like to call it, CHRISTFEST because we’re celebrating the birth of Christ! As a kid, we didn’t actually celebrate, just went to Church, but Henry grew up with a tree and presents and all of that, and I’m so excited for the kids to experience it! I read them the story of Jesus’ birth at bedtime tonight, and Peter went wild with excitement for the birth of his Saviour!Â
Both kids love having Hosanna with us so much. Mom wanted her home for Winterfest, but I told her we desperately needed her here with the new baby’s arrival so close, and she relented. I think she thinks that Hosanna living with us will turn her into the perfect future mother - to be honest, although Hosanna likes the kids and they adore her, I can’t see her wanting any if she has the choice. She’s content to be a ‘fun aunt’.Â
Hosanna has been studying for hours each day, even though it’s winter break. She wants to get a jump on her classes. She confessed to me that she was frightfully behind the rest of her classmates, and that homeschooling hadn’t prepared her properly for university. I’ll have to talk to Henry about this - I want to homeschool the kids to protect them from the evils of the outside world, but I also want them prepared to go to university if they want to. Henry went to a Christian all-boy’s school - maybe this is an option.Â
The night before Winterfest, the kids hurried upstairs to bed as they knew that Father Winter couldn’t deliver presents until they were asleep! Father Winter is just a silly myth of course, but it adds some excitement to the day!
