I met one of my really close friends two years ago when I started year nine in my new secondary school. I was going into the library almost every day and in early October, the school librarian at the time, who had learnt who I was out of everyone in Upper School quicker than any other teacher, suggested I read Half Bad by Sally Green. She gave me a copy and called over to this girl with glasses and long hair in a French braid. I'll never forget this,
"Harriette! How good is Half Bad?" And Harri went full fangirl mode and welcomed me over to sit with her. We became fast friends and I met two of her best friends, Beth and Charlie. The three of us are really close now and they often refer to me as their little sister, which absolutely warms my heart. They're two years older than me, and if it weren't for them, I don't know how I would've made it through my first year. To this day, me and Harri still adore the series that brought us together and we don't talk about Half Lost after Nathan gives Gabriel Marcus' ring at Ledger's @theelkmaiden seriously, I love you, noodle and Harri to the ends of the galaxy and back
