oh yes. so i have been into dr since it was still on the SA forums i think it had to be like 2012, 2013 since i was just getting into college and i kept a pic of ishi in a frame to motivate me to study LOL. i went in with the intention of hatereading it since 1. i got into it when EVERYONE on tumblr was into it and i was like "you are all so fucking annoying" and i think this was pre-tumblr savior so it was unavoidable and drama was everywhere i was just like oh my god why are you people nuts over this shit and 2. the art sucks pretty hard (i still think this... sorry... the concept and splash art is a delight as well as the posters/promos but i don't like the in-game art at all...) but i wound up mowing through the forum thread in like a week i think and i loved it, i loved the diversity in backstories and personalities and even more i loved every single chara's chemistry with one another especially as the endgame approached. it's a wonderful story it really is even if it reads like a battle royale rip. it really stirred something within me as a constant new kid and reject in high school. so imagine my disappointment when i started sdr2 and it sucked ass the entire way. dr1 spoiled me it was just so good!
ishi was my favorite IMMEDIATELY. i love a strong and intelligent and loud character who is also a bit pathetic and has huge eyebrows. i was really lonely at this point in life and super emotionally stunted so he was my friend immediately and i loved him from first sight. now he is my son. mondo took a bit to grow on me and by that i mean "oh he is soooo funny looking ahaha" -> "oh no he's my other son now" i am also really into bosozoku culture since i grew up watching "vintage" (80s/90s) anime with a lot of mech so you could say i latched onto them immediately. and when i saw all those promo arts where they are fawning over each other and every other chara is third or fourth wheeling? sauna scene? voting out scene? man. gay people. i'm no sweetie but i've been a sucker ever since....
