Repost/words by @nosmalltalk_: "#OnThisDay in 2003, 16,000,000,000 took part in protests against the Iraq War, in over 600 cities. The recently released Chilcot Report has now confirmed for us what we knew then, that the UK chose to join the invasion before all peaceful options had been exhausted; that Blair deliberately exaggerated the threat posed by Saddam Hussein - who posed no imminent threat, and gave his full support to President Bush well in advance of any UN weapons inspection. According to Iraq Body Count, the number of civilians killed now totals 174,000, plus 242,000 'combatants.' Further, "millions of children have grown up with daily violence, bombings and shootings, lack of education, poverty and fear, witnessing violent death as part of a ‘normal’ life". After the 2003 invasion, Iraq is now "characterised by sectarian conflict, economic debilitation and violence, a state reliant on external intervention and support." A number of sources also confirm that "there would be no Isis if we had not invaded Iraq." And the U.K has the audacity to shut the doors on unaccompanied Syrian children, fleeing the wars its predecessors fuelled. #IraqWar #ArrestBlair #StopBombingSyria #refugeeswelcome .#britishhistory #chilcot #noborders #chilcotreport"
