Would you recommend cherp/cherami to someone who used to use mxrp like it was a second job? What’s the culture like over there?

That's a hard one. The thing is, I would recommend Cherami to just about anyone -- I do genuinely believe it's one of the best RP sites out there at the moment, despite my near-constant bitching about it. That said, the culture is different, and it comes down to how the sites are structured.

The site I use that's most similar to MxRP right now is Rolechat, though MxRP is admittedly back up and running. Rolechat's a roulette site which is what I always associate with MxRP/MSPARP, though reconnects can be a little harder and it's a lot more spread out fandomwise.

Cherami has no roulette function, and IMO it's more geared towards longer-term RP. Group chats are discrete blocks, not free-for-alls, you post your prompts in the directory and hope to get a bite instead of diving into the pool. (Or, obviously, you answer those prompts. Both are necessary.) Because everything is discrete and discreet, without really easy ways to share logs outside of just copy/pasting, I can't for sure say what everyone else's experience is like, but Cherami's also built more for paragraph-style RP than MxRP ever was.

But that's not to say you shouldn't use it. MxRP was spectacular for a quick fix, whereas Cherami will cultivate you long-term RP partners much more consistently -- you just have to find them. The culture is also a lot more curated because you need to sift through prompts to get what you want, so, I'd say be very generous with your blacklist and don't be like me with zero blacklisted tags. Dive into the tags you like, and figure out what you're into.

IMO there's also a bit of a don't give up hope mentality -- if you've got your prompt listed, someone can always take it. MxRP was limited in part by how many tabs you could have open searching, but Cherami's only real limit is you can only make/bump seven prompts per day -- but you can have an unbounded amount. I wouldn't recommend posting all four of your Angel Dust Hazbin Hotel prompts right after another with no space between them, but, like...nobody's stopping you. You're allowed.

Ultimately it's not like MxRP, but I do believe a lot of the users did come from there/MSPARP, and you will find like-minded individuals. If you're looking for script RP, you'll probably want to go elsewhere, but like...you can always find it. I found someone willing to write in Latin with me on Cherami's grandparent. You can do things.

So here is the situation. My landlord has sold the house, and as a result I've been given a N12 Eviction Notice claiming that I have to move out by Sept. 30th. This is rather short notice, and moving is always an expensive endeavour. I'm not very well equipped to tackle this kind of a cost right now. If anybody is willing and able to help contribute to my Ko-Fi goal, I would be very appreciative. Sharing this around would also be a big help. Thanks for taking the time to read this!

yikeees this all sounds really bad. I'm glad I've not made an account despite the temptation just to see what they all doing over there.

I've got nothing wrong with the pagination really, but I do think it's a very good idea to have the live page at minimum like ten posts back, maybe more (to consider a lot of ooc chatter, though the 'hide ooc' option is also good for that anyway)

Another thing I've noticed that I think is much more important is that when I look at my prompts, I always lose one between pages. I've been paying attention now that I've noticed and there's always one that isn't visible until I bump a prompt from an older page and it pushes it back out at the cost of the prompt on the bottom of the page before. I can still find the prompt if I like. Go to a tag I used for it, or hide tags to make older prompts load on the first page, but I've got a bad memory as is and I'm unfortunately very 'out of sight, out of mind' most of the time.

the thing is, I think this may have been a thing even before they dropped the amount to 10 instead of the 20 (or 25, can't remember) it was before, because I made a couple tickets in the past due to not being able to find a prompt of mine using the page for it. They found it, confirming I hadn't accidentally deleted it or anything, and I just bumped it and kept on with what I was doing. But now that the pages are shorter, more prompts are getting hidden between them and it's a lot more noticeable.
