ttmiyh really needs to hire outside help for carrion too. looking through the websites code there are dozens of hygiene issues on data storage and infinite unboundeed loops if elements dont load. a very maximal security policy that allows p much everything from privacy sensitive content to fingerprint enabling or security impacting elements all to enable ads. all similarly broken because ads allow redrects without any proper verify. easily compromised data that would fuck over users on a supposedly privacy focused website. also some common sense stuff. css renders elements presumed safe without proper sanitization. css does not mitigate svg xss so imgs can balloon to huge sizes. no custom landing page or exit page on decline for age verify just redirects to google. this will fuck performance over as clutter p much becomes unmanageable and expensive on nyetwork resources especially for shittier devices. deprecated tags and elements like the marquee tag. obsolete. will cause accessibility issues. lacks any plan for future support. undefined variables are referenced which just defaults to transparency or more unbounded values. cache lifetimes are totally inefficient. all in all. website programming is hard. dont leave it to the ai fangirl slicking it to llm slop imgs lol.
yikeees this all sounds really bad. I'm glad I've not made an account despite the temptation just to see what they all doing over there.

i know it's a little thing, but yeah, i absolutely hate how the pages are divided on cherami when you exceed one page. i don't even know why you'd ever want it the current way, other than maybe limiting how much needs to load or be scrolled past? it's incredibly frustrating to have to keep switching pages when working on a response to check stuff just a few responses back, or just to read the last response.
I've got nothing wrong with the pagination really, but I do think it's a very good idea to have the live page at minimum like ten posts back, maybe more (to consider a lot of ooc chatter, though the 'hide ooc' option is also good for that anyway)
Another thing I've noticed that I think is much more important is that when I look at my prompts, I always lose one between pages. I've been paying attention now that I've noticed and there's always one that isn't visible until I bump a prompt from an older page and it pushes it back out at the cost of the prompt on the bottom of the page before. I can still find the prompt if I like. Go to a tag I used for it, or hide tags to make older prompts load on the first page, but I've got a bad memory as is and I'm unfortunately very 'out of sight, out of mind' most of the time.
the thing is, I think this may have been a thing even before they dropped the amount to 10 instead of the 20 (or 25, can't remember) it was before, because I made a couple tickets in the past due to not being able to find a prompt of mine using the page for it. They found it, confirming I hadn't accidentally deleted it or anything, and I just bumped it and kept on with what I was doing. But now that the pages are shorter, more prompts are getting hidden between them and it's a lot more noticeable.
I don't think it affects the chats I currently have as far as I can tell since they have set numbers to their pages, but since the directory works the same way, I have to wonder if there are starters up that are just unfortunately getting hidden between pages before getting pushed out when a new one comes in, but by that point it's on a new page and less likely to be seen.
Regarding Migration!
alright so, we ran into an unexpected complication. i was basing my previous estimates upon the server having SSDs. it does not have SSDs. it used old fashioned Hard Drives that spin. 48 hour cap for the migration is no longer viable. instead it could take up to five days. i hope that it doesn't, and we're doing everything we can think of to gain extra performance for the migrations, but as it currently stands this is the state of things. bear this in mind. sorry for the inconvenience! devops is hard. -Hex
Thank you for understanding!
maybe this will help ease the transition for some of you. (i don't love how it looks on the directory page but i will admit i prefer it for my chats)

edit: just noticed there's a themes channel in the disco that's already done this lol but i mean if you're not on the discord server and want your shit to look like old!cherp there's a quick fix ♥️

So some first impressions of cherami.
-“What is cherami?” Doesnt tell you what the site actually is. Good luck using cherami if you aren’t familiar with cherp. Some one-time popups explaining things like lucky dip or psudonyms might be helpful
-oddly heavy emphasis on alternative accounts not being allowed. Uncertain as of why it matters enough to be a concern. It can’t be ban evasion, because moderators still enforce this if your original account is unbanned and will not terminate your original account if caught. It cant be prompt timer avoidance because if a duplicate-post filter is put in place then it wont be an issue, and if the filter isnt put in place then users could duplicate prompts on their original accounts anyways. Odd rule to be heavy handed about when the crime seems harmless, but it’s not experience-breaking i guess
-if there is a user block function, I cannot find it. Good thing strangers on the internet (especially ones you roleplay with) are always Kind and Normal and you would never need to block them. ❤️
This blog does not have an official stance on the new web site however as all mods clearly love drama and gossip, we have an official stance that the chaos on the discord server has been fun to do dramatic readings of.
