Starting the week off with some Old Vine Gamay! This one is by the young vigneron, Anthony Thevenet. • • Anthony sources this from two old vine parcels (70 & 100 years old) planted in sand/silty soils located in the Chenas AOP of Beaujolais. The grapes are hand-harvested, whole-cluster, carbonic macerated for 20 days in concrete vat, spontaneously-fermented, gravity flow/no pumps, aged in old oak for 8 months before being bottled with very little sulfur added. 500cs produced. • • Very powerful with aggressive red fruit and a spice, a touch of ash and olive.
