Some girls are starstruck by movie stars but not me. I want my picture taken with guys like @farmerleejones , men who are making an enormous difference in the world. Today @neofoodies arranged a wonderful vaccine and mask required tour of the amazing @the_chefs_garden_ohio farm and facility. We bought beautiful vegetables, tasted wonderful ratatouille made with those same glorious vegetables and was truly inspired all over again by the amazing regenerative farming philosophy used by Farmer Lee and his crew. During the worst part of Covid they pivoted to a home delivery model and my niece @bewhole4life turned me onto their beautiful boxes of fresh vegetables. It was such a treat to be able to get these amazing vegetables that I’d read about for years sent right to my door. Give yourself a treat , go to their site and order a box for yourself. You can even donate a box, to help feed a family...something that I appreciate very much. These vegetables are amazing, but the people standing behind them are the real treat. I had so much fun with breakfast today....i was missing Paris for some reason ...a little Piaf and some wonderful ingredients and voila ! Simple scrambled eggs ( my secret? I shake them in a mason jar!) olive oil and garlic toast... a ripe piece of Brie and the most perfect vegetables ever from @the_chefs_garden_ohio . I am so grateful to have vegetables like this to cook with ...I haven’t tasted radishes like these since I left California.. where I can eat them greens and all....it was a perfect meal and made even nicer by a wonderful walk shortly after. I haven’t had vegetables this amazing in such a long time. From @the_chefs_garden_ohio , the flavor is absolutely exquisite. There were about 6 different kinds of beets in my box ranging from sweet to almost savory and the radishes are all so crisp and spicy. The greens are earthy and delicious and a scattering of beet greens made it a perfect salad. Dressed with a bit of fresh feta cheese, garlic , dried currants and a simple vinaigrette of honey and mustard it was absolutely delicious. I can’t wait to see what next weeks box looks like. These are vegetables that taste like vegetables should.
