also, “reading up on things you bring up”, if you mention a problem or a condition to him, he’s doing research, educating himself; idia’s prepared for this boss fight and he’ll be damned if he can’t offer his full support will also listen if you tell him what you actually need; i also think he’d track things like your period or when you have to take meds, etc

+ he for sure has very skilled fingers, so do with that what you will

he’s taking a stroll through the sumeru forest when he notices subtle movements in the bushes and trees around him but thinks nothing of it… until it grows more frequent and trails after him

turns out the aranara are fascinated by the adeptus; this one looks to be human like the golden nara but there’s a different aura coming from him

so when xiao sets down his spear to splash some water in his face at a river and goes to grab it again, he finds a few pairs of tiny eyes staring back at him

both sides are frozen in surprise, the aranara who previously played around on and inspected his shiny weapon coming back to life and scurrying back into the plants

still a little dazed by the unexpected encounter, xiao continues through the forest, although a little calmer now that he can link the rustling of leaves to the apparently harmless little plant creatures

he does not see any more of them though… that is until he sees a group of fungi harassing something he can’t quite make out; perhaps it was a careless adventurer?

when he disposed of the fungi, xiao realises that it was another one of the round plant people who shakily introduces themselves as an aranara, a forest spirit of sumeru

in return, xiao tells them his name and explains that he is an adeptus from liyue and the aranara perks up; suddenly, there’s a lot of movement in the bushes again as more of these spirits dare come closer now; he recognises the ones from the riverbed amongst them

it’s clear they mean no harm but are more like curious little children, so when they ask “xiao nara, what is your favourite flower?” he doesn’t hesitate to say that it’s a qingxin

the little aranara seem confused but soon their ??? changes to !!! as the scurry off; thinking he scared them off again, the adeptus sighs but decides to wait a little longer

and sure enough, it doesn’t take long until excited chatter fills the air again; his new friends are back carrying various aspects of sumeru’s flora, all asking “is this qingxin?”

when he has to tell them none of them are, they seem a little disappointed but light up pretty quickly
