An important aspect of charden is Dennis being absolutely DESPERATE for Charlie's attention at all times.

You could tell me that Dennis canonically clicker-trained Charlie at some point and I wouldn't bat an eye.

the fact that it eventually gets revealed charlie has a second room in his apartment makes it so much funnier that he and dennis get in the bed (ON TOP OF EACH OTHER) to try and catch mac banging the waitress

there's something interesting to me about how openly bisexual Dennis was in the early seasons and how close his and Charlie's friendship was then vs how deeply closeted he became and how much distance grew between the two of them as the seasons went on to the point where any friendship there ever was soured entirely and they were left with mutual disdain and disgust. I don't think these two things are necessarily related to one another but I do think it's interesting that they coincide. maybe I am too tired to have any deep thoughts about this at 1am but yeah. there's something about this that's been running around in my head for a few days.
