At first I was very confused and slightly terrified that my character Phoenix had somehow come to life and had sent in an ask to interrogate me for more info on her date mate and then I was just... so mystified.

But now I’m yet more confused because I have more than one friend on here named Phoenix. XD Is it @phoenixwritesblog​?

Nonetheless, thank you for your interest! You asked just about the most spoilery question on there, I love it.

5. How well would your oc fare as a teacher? What subject would they be best at teaching? What about the worst?

Oof. No.

Just. No. Maybe, if the occasion ever were to arise, where Celestine actually liked someone enough to be patient with them, and she wasn’t uncomfortable enough to reveal her absolute passion for her machine building and schematic drawing, engineering? She would require the most patient of students, though, since her thought process is a bit... difficult to follow. All the time. Yeah. So engineering and math would be best, worst would be anything creative. Music, especially.

6. What was your oc’s relationship with their parents like? If they didn’t have any parents/didn’t know them, who in their life was the closest to a parent to them?

I’ll have to step carefully, here~

Celestine had a very close relationship with her mother. She was a very difficult child (like that ever changed) and ended up getting in trouble a lot, both with the law and in doing things she shouldn’t in general (especially with insulting people). And yet... her mother responded to everything with kindness. Many said it was too much, that she should punish her child for misbehaving, that the brat was only so terrible and rotten because her mother was too soft on her. Yeah, maybe Celestine would lend some credence to that, but she also believes her mother was the only one that ever actually loved her, a belief only strengthened by the fact her mother was so laden with work, and was so constantly tired.

Celestine’s father is another story. He was always away, always working, always distant, always too busy to see his child.

Well. This child, anyway.

33. How does your oc’s own perception of themselves compare to how other people see them? Is your oc aware that other people see them differently (if it’s different)?

Because a random dice roll said 8, we’re going with Rose~ Yay, more spoilers!

Rose is clever. Manipulative. Mischievous. Crafty. Adaptable. And very skilled with lying and trickery. Can you see where I’m going with this?

Many think she’s mad, in all honesty. Mad, but harmless and a little dull when not in battle. She knows it, it’s purposeful. Well, the maniacal giggling in bloody fights is genuine. Maybe she is a little mad. She doesn’t question it. As long as she can do her job, and she can do it well.

4. How does your oc fare in the dark? Are they scared? Do they trip over things really easily or navigate like they have night vision? (Or do they have night vision?)

Mate. Mate. He can’t even. Walk properly during the day without tripping over everything and nothing at all. What are you even asking? What?

That said, Colin isn’t scared of the dark at all. He’s fairly used to it, and his night vision is actually pretty good! He just can’t move without his clumsiness kicking in.

8. Does your oc prefer being in a crowd or being completely alone? How many people can be around them before they get uncomfortable?

At his most comfortable when he’s feeling sociable, it’s a group of 5-10 people he’s close to. When he’s on low energy for social interaction, it’s 1-2 of his close friends (aka Isabel and/or George). Of course, he certainly enjoys performing for a larger group, either through stories or through fiddling, but he does prefer having more one-on-one experiences with people, since that’s how you have the best interactions!

You might also be surprised to learn that Colin doesn’t fare well in huge crowds. One, he’s a pirate. That’s kinda illegal. Two, tripping into people is really easy for him, and getting shoved around isn’t fun. He’s too polite, honestly. He doesn’t want to get in people’s way, but then you realize he’s actually a broad-shouldered, fairly muscular fellow. Kinda difficult to slip through reams of people when that’s true.

22. How quiet or loud is your oc? Are they easily capable of sneaking around without being heard, or do they feel it’s impossible to stop talking?

Alix is surprisingly pretty sneaky! He’s a pretty wiry kid, so despite being fairly strong, he’s quite small, too! Honestly, everyone wonders how he’s capable of lifting anything at all, he’s so stick-thin. Average height, but light, very light. And very quiet. Because he’s so light, he doesn’t make much sound when moving, even on the creakiest of floors!

Alixandre is often very distant, in his own head, so keeping quiet talking-wise is also very easy for him. In fact, it’s typically a challenge to get him talking at all!

37. How picky is your oc? Will they not accept something because of the smallest details being off, or do they not care in the slightest? Why?

Alixandre isn’t the pickiest, but he certainly does have high standards. He works under Captain Io quite closely a lot of the time, shadowing her in different duties as well as the other mates, but he wishes to remain in specifically her good books as much as he can. Aka: he’s a teacher’s pet. Very much so. So, everything that Io must have impeccable, cleaned and with not a speck of dust? He also must have it that way, because he doesn’t want whatever it is he approved to be analyzed later by Io herself to get her disapproval.

23. How difficult is it for your oc to get to sleep? Do they fall asleep the moment they hit the pillow, or do they have insomnia? Any reason why?

Ah. Captain Io is uh. Plagued by nightmares, unfortunately. Kinda understandable when your whole family died in a pirate raid when you were 11. She’d never tell anyone, though. Io refuses to get any sort of medical help, and especially for mental health. Got too many secrets in that head ‘a hers, can’t risk sharing ‘em. She gets enough sleep to barely get by, but staying up late due to hesitancy to go to sleep is certainly typical of her. The night watch has learned not to question it. Phoenix still does.

34. How easily does your oc throw something away? As soon as something is through with its usefulness, or are they more like a hoarder? Is there a reason?

Living alone with her Auntie while not having much money to go around instilled Phoenix with incredible resourcefulness and a sense of using everything until it’s no longer able to be, and then repairing it or using it for something else. On the Compass she’s gotten out of the habit of doing this so much, since it can be terribly dangerous to use old equipment at sea. Her resourcefulness may have stayed, but she now does tend to give away small, cheaper things she doesn’t have a use for, and she understands why the ship has to have things replaced every now and then.

Still has a tendency to keep things “just in case”, though.

37. How picky is your oc? Will they not accept something because of the smallest details being off, or do they not care in the slightest? Why?

George is about in the middle for this. He’s not overly critical of things, but he does have to be fairly careful when considering loose knots and slight missteps can easily end up deadly at sea. If it’s not related to something that could kill him, though, he hasn’t a care. As long as it does the job.

40. How humble is your oc? Or are they closer to royal in their self-perception? Why? Is this obvious to others?

Isabel is in charge and you know it. She’ll make you know if you didn’t already. (It doesn’t matter that she’s only a deckhand.)
