Episode 11 “Arcade Mania,” should have been Garnet’s P.O.V. or at least switched back and forth. What could have been an interesting episode about addiction and overcoming it was robbed of it’s momentum when Steven had to destroy the game. If Steven was also fighting the corrupted Gem and in danger, then Garnet would have been forced to stop herself from playing the game. And why was she obsessed with the game?

My theory is that Garnet found it relaxing to just concentrate her future vision on the game and not have to worry about leading the Gems/looking at possible dangers in the future. It would have been a nice glimpse into Garnet as a character and wouldn’t have ruined the secret of her being a fusion.

Episode 16 “Steven the Sword Fighter” should have switched back and forth between Steven and Pearl’s P.O.V mostly because I was curious as to what the inside of a Gem looks like (Which we do eventually see in a Pale Rose) and how they choose what they will look like.

Why did it take so long to reform? Garnet said that it was because Pearl was taking her time to make sure that she came back well made. I think it’s because Pearl wasn’t honestly sure that she wanted to come back without Rose. She didn’t come back until Steven said how much he needed her.

Episode 20 “Coach Steven” This one is just a personal complaint. I think this episode should have either been longer or broken into two parts. Sugilite was cool and I would have loved to get to know her better. I wish they had gotten a different voice actress because I know Nikki is probably expensive but if they wanted to bring her back with a different voice then I would be all for it. Because now that Amethyst has matured, and Garnet has changed maybe Sugilite wouldn’t be so destructive and could be put back in the roster as a fusion choice.

Episode 30 “Island Adventure” I didn’t like this episode. It made a bad mark on Sadie’s character that she would trap Steven and Lars on an Island. That was really messed up. This episode would work better if Steven wasn’t on the Island with them and they really were trapped. Maybe they accidentally activated a warp pad but didn’t know how to use it to get back. Sadie didn’t know a way off the Island. The episode would just be Sadie and Lars trapped together on an Island with a corrupted Gem and them getting closer. Sadie defeats the Gem monster and Garnet shows up with Steven at the end to save them (Future vision).

Episode 32 “Fusion Cuisine” Steven should have brought Pearl. It would have been so much more fun. Pearl’s tense relationship with Greg is sure to draw some questions, especially is she was supposed to be his wife and her distaste for food would have to come up at dinner.

Episode 41 “Horror Club,” No Steven. Sadie, Lars, and Ronaldo. Would make the episode better. Especially if they allow Sadie to do something besides get kidnapped. Maybe she’s trying to mend Lars and Ronaldo’s relationship. Maybe she’s the one who defeats the Gem monster? A call back to her defeating one in Island Adventure.

Episode 56 “Love Letters” No Steven and Connie. Just Jamie being in love with Garnet and writing her love letters and Garnet dealing with rejecting him. It gives more time to develop things between them (Maybe form a friendship since Garnet doesn’t date)

Episode 58 “Sworn to the Sword,” I don’t actually want to change anything in the Episode. I would like an episode after this one that would be Pearl and Connie training by themselves (In a much healthier way)

Episode 62 "Chille Tid" I know that this episode leads to Steven discovering that he has the power of Astral project which becomes important in the battle against the Diamonds, so I’m not going to change this. But I would have added an episode after this one with Lapis and Jasper alone. Maybe a moment where both are two tired to fight and are both on the same level and the two just talk. I would love to have gotten Jasper’s backstory and to have her share it with Lapis in a similar way to the way Lapis later shares hers with Steven would have been something to see.

Episode 65 “Onion Friend,” I need an episode of just Vidalia and Amethyst hanging out. The two have history and I want to see Onion’s mom having fun with her friend. But this episode developed Onion and Steven’s relationship, so Vidalia and Amethyst would have to have their standalone episode sometime after this one.

Episode 67 “Friend Ship,” Pearl and Garnet alone. No Amethyst and No Steven. What Pearl did to Garnet was a terrible violation and they needed more time to work through that without Steven watching. Also, they should not have fused. I would have rather Sardonyx be benched a while longer. Just to show how serious what Pearl did. Because Pearl’s feelings of needing someone (which was a really good speech and really did touch me) don’t give her the right to violate someone.

 Episode 68 “Nightmare Hospital,” No Steven. Just a Connie and Connie’s mother episode. I know Steven’s shield came in handy, but I really wanted Connie having to protect her mother from Gem monsters alone. The could be a scene at the end with Connie telling Steven about it later.

Episode 82 “Barn Mates,” Really would have loved to see Peridot and Lapis work through their issues without Steven’s help. He could have been there for the beginning but have left them alone to work it out for themselves towards the end. A scene of Lapis looking upset with herself after Peridot walked away would have gone a long way (Especially without Steven there to comment on why she should feel bad.) Lapis has been alone for thousands of years. Giving her a moment to herself to realize that she actually misses Peridot bugging her and trying to be her friend would work really well,

Episode 88 “The New Lars,” Steven’s role in the episode ends after he asks Lars why he can’t admit he loves Sadie. This episode is Lar’s P.O.V. and we see what a day in Lars life is really like (Not how different things would be if he had Steven’s personality. It felt like the episode was saying that your life would be so much better if you weren’t you and that’s not what I think they meant to do) how he deals with his parents, how he deals with his life. And Lars being rejected by the cool kids and going to hang out with Sadie. After saying the wrong thing to Sadie in response to her “How do you really feel about me?” Sadie throws Lars out. I’d like Lars to run into Lapis. Maybe Lapis is visiting Steven. Maybe she and Peridot had a fight and she just wanted to get away.  I don’t know, but I do know that Lars and Sadie are in a toxic relationship and if anyone knows about Toxic relationships it’s Lapis. Those two having a conversation and that conversation being the thing to lead to Lars treating Sadie better, and deciding to turn his life around, would work so much better.

Episode 91 “Kiki’s Pizza Delivery Service,” I’d like to take Steven out of this episode and replace him with Pearl. Kiki has developed insomnia from the stress of what’s going on between Kiki and her sister. Pearl doesn’t sleep and now that Steven let her know how creepy it is for her to watch him sleep she’s developed a habit of walking around beach city. I’d like to use this episode to delve into Pearl’s relationship with Rose/Pink Diamond and the power of “No,” Maybe Pearl tells the story of the first time she said “No” to Rose about something. Or maybe Pearl tells Kiki of what a lifetime of saying yes to Rose had gotten her— Alone and heartbroken. It could have been an episode of Pearl trying to teach Kiki to say no. They’d work on it all night, then during the day when faced with her sister Kiki would say yes, then the cycle would repeat it’s self until Pearl told her story.

Episode 93 “Alone at Sea,” I’ll keep this episode the same except don’t have Lapis punch her or if she does punch her let Lapis show some remorse (I believe Lapis was the abuser during their time as Malachite) and have an episode after this one where Jasper finds Lapis while she’s alone and they talk. I read a comic with that topic. It was really good. It’s called Ruined. I’d like a Lapis and Jasper episode before she makes her corrupted army.

Episode 22 “Beta,” and Episode 23 “Earthlings” How could Amethyst and Lapis not talk? Seriously! It was a missed opportunity. If anyone could offer Amethyst insight into why Jasper is not the perfect gem, then it would be Lapis. Lapis should have come with them. The Kindergarten doesn’t have any water, so Lapis would be weakened, and it would explain why she wouldn’t interfere in the Amethyst vs Jasper fight until Steven is in danger. And if she had a conflicted look on her face when Jasper is corrupted that would really add to her character. (Lapis has been really under developed in Steven Universe)

Episode 107 “Mindful Education” should be longer or split into two parts. The first half should be Connie’s P.O.V. I’m curious about what Connie’s like in school and I would love to see her flip that kid in real time. Then we need more time to deal with Steven’s issue. His issues were the more serious of the two and we needed more time to explore it. Connie talking to Steven and the two fusing was nice, but they should have unfused and talked more once they were on the ground. Steven had serious trauma.

Episode 109 “Last One Out of Beach City,” Should be Pearl’s P.O.V and just be her and Amethyst. I’d love to see Pearl and Amethyst alone and Pearl trying to get with Mystery girl. Also, we would get to hear their conversation. We wouldn’t be stuck on the side lines with Steven and Amethyst when Pearl approaches her.

Episode 111/112 “Gem Harvest,” Lapis was alone with the crystal gems for the first time without Steven there. I would have loved a moment where Pearl apologized for not letting her out of the mirror because they thought she was corrupted. It’s a really needed moment and, even if Lapis pretends to accept her apology or doesn’t except her apology, when Lapis cracks her joke at the table look at Pearl’s face. She looks so uncomfortable.

Episode 121 “Rocknaldo” I hated this episode. I’d rather an episode of Ronaldo going to the barn to interview Lapis and Peridot about Homeworld. I really want to hear about it and keeping it a secret doesn’t make sense once we get there. There’s really no reason that we can’t know a little bit about it.

133 “Dewey Wins” This episode was terrible. The Connie- Steven conflict made no sense. This should have been a Sadie episode about her dealing with the loss of Lars. Imagine we shift P.O.V after Steven tells Sadie what happened to Lars and follow her to tell the Barrigas what happened to Lars (And see their reaction!) Then after leaving she's almost run over by Mayor Dewey, who is asking people to vote for him at re-election. Sadie and Dewey talk with her trying to take the blame in herself for not paying attention. She explains to Dewey that she's just upset about Lars. Dewey has no idea who Lars is. Then Sadie has her moment where she screams at the Mayor for not knowing or caring that Lars is lost in space. Dewey recognizes her Big donut shirt and promises to find a new donut boy. Then he drives off in his van, leaving Sadie crying and posed off. There's no reason for the people of beach city to be mad at Dewey. Steven was the one at fault. But Steven is Sadie's friend, she can't be mad at him, so she focuses her anger at Mayor Dewey, starting a one-woman crusade against him. The episode is entirely Sadie's P.O.V with her protesting Mayor Dewey being in office, helping Mrs. Nana run for Mayor, and grieving for Lars.

Episode 137 “Sadie Killer,” Sadie’s P.O.V. No Steven. The Cool Kids start a band, but they have trouble finding their sound. They decide to recruit Sadie, who writes a dark song about her frustrating job at the Big Donut; but that same job keeps her from participating in the band. It would work better without Steven whose supposed to still be depressed over Connie.

Episode 144 “Letters to Lars,” It was a letter from Steven. Steven didn’t need to be there. At the end, Lars should have looked mixed about how everyone in beach City was doing without him. Maybe a moment where he talks to the off-colors about it. And end with Padparadscha saying something that makes the crew laugh. (There should have been an episode before this one of Amethyst and Peridot joining Jamie’s improv class. That scene made me laugh and I wish we got to explore their dynamic more)

Anyway, those are just a few improvements, but I think it would really help the show as a whole. Being shackled to Steven is so frustrating. There are so many interesting things going on and we don’t get to see any of them because most of the time Steven is being kept in the dark.
