"Only a fool trips on what is behind him" 👣🚶‍♀️💥 I went for a walk with a friend the other day. We ventured into the depths of the forest behind our childhood castle & I immediatly opened up to him about something that hit like a ton of bricks:⁣ ⁣ "Doing this makes me think of my ex."⁣ ⁣ At the beginning of my previous 4 year relationship, I wanted to take things slow. I didn't want to jump right into household hangouts and staying over so I invited him into the most dear part of what I loved: hiking ❣⁣ ⁣ We would meet up at any and all parks: ones I've been to and ones I haven't ⛰ ⁣ "My thing" quickly became "ours." It was nice. He enjoyed what I loved; "what could be better?" But now we aren't together and so much of our time was spend lost in green woods and climbing trees that I'm forced back to those times whenever I try to hike them now.⁣ ⁣ My friend said to me, "Then hike more now. The more times you hike 𝘯𝘰𝘸, the less times you'll think of hiking with him 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘯."⁣ ⁣ He's right and we had a great day talking, exploring, and sweating... but a bit of advice I wanna give ⬇️⁣ ⁣ 🤲 Don't give all parts of who you are to another. Share with them, 𝘺𝘦𝘴! But save space for yourself as well. ⁣ ⁣ I should have hiked with AND without my ex, but I hate having people feel excluded. But guess what? I have excluded myself from a part of who I am and now I am having to work to rebuild a hobby uninterrupted by what is behind me 🛠 ⁣ I found this chalk drawing on the ground during our adventure. It reminded me of the child-like version of myself in nature, surrounded by color and natural vibrancy.
