Wrist Position in the Press ------- This video just addresses the wrist and what you can do to get #gainz Your body is inherently lazy. This means that when thins get tough, your body naturally look for leverage positions to stabilize the spine and keep you safe - even if doing so actually puts you in a less ideal position. ------- To avoid this and wrist discomfort when pressing overhead and specifically in teh bench press, we want to ensure we do a few things to maximize wrist position and strength throughout the lift. ------- 1) Wrap the thumb around the bar. This maximizes your ability to squeeze the bar and recruit more muscle fibers making you stronger. It also helps prevent an injury. Google Stafon Johnson, former USC and NFL running back for more on that. ------- 2) Squeeze like hell (see #1 for why). ------- 3) Position the wrist in in a straight, sometimes referred to as neutral, position.
