Escaflowne Week 30th Anniversary Day 1: Changing Fate

Celena's Changing Fate by Katia Hougaard

Celena Schezar was an innocent young girl captured by Zaibach and subjected to mysterious fate-altering experiments that transformed her into the living weapon known as Dilandau Albatou. Only disturbing glimpses of this transmutation are shown in the anime, and in my fan art I show Celena's scattered impressions of the traumatic ordeal. Inspired by images of actual 17th century alchemists' tools, the sorciers' scientific instruments alter the balance of masculine and feminine energies in this child's destiny. Was Celena transformed into a boy against her will, or was there something in her latent nature that made such a fate alteration possible?

Celena Schezar in the night garden.

Celena Schezar is the hidden identity of Dilandau Albatou in the anime Vision of Escaflowne. In this contemplative picture of them, we see them on a cloudy night in the garden where they are confined during periods of instability when the "Dilandau" identity breaks down. We don't know a lot about Celena without Dilandau, but they seem to wander in a trance-like state among the flowers in this hidden garden under the watchful eye of their caregiver, the gentle beast-man Jajuka.

At first I wanted to write something but after a while I switched to an artwork instead.

It's supposed to be some kind of Best-Of of Celena :>

Her "sins" as Dilandau slowly dissolving in the past while still being a part of her. The support of her loved ones (Jajuka and Allen respectively) all while learing to finally live as herself and how she wants.

I really love the blue dress she wears in that one episode where we first really see Celena <3

The whole artwork is supposed to look like some kind of Fine Art Print. I hope I managed to convey that xD
